TOTALLY RANDOM

This is probably going to be somewhat of a "random" post as I have soo many different things on my mind.  I am not even really sure where to start.  First of all, I wondered if anyone has as much trouble sometimes as I do keeping up with my blogs?!!  Sometimes I feel like it is easy and I just follow all the posts from the blog roll on the side of my post.  I catch all the new ones that way and follow along pretty easily.  But then other times I find myself WAY behind and it is an effort to get around to all of them and still have time to write anything of my own.  Maybe I am too wordy or spend too much time doing mine (I am quite slow at this sometimes) or maybe I have too many I try to follow.  I am not sure.  But it is starting to stress me some.  Now don't get me wrong...I LOVE the blogs I follow.  I think that is the problem.  I find myself "involved" do you know what I mean??  I can't bear to miss anything.  And I don't want anyone to ever think I am snubbing them or have lost interest or anything....(though I don't really think any of you would REALLY think that, but I will admit it does kind of concern me sometimes) I also sometimes spend too much time probably worrying about "WHAT" I am blogging about.  Soooo many of yours are sooo interesting, or have such great spiritual insights, WONDERFUL recipes, all the exciting "projects" you are working on, or soo much to just say etc.,  that sometimes I think maybe I should just FOLLOW blogs and not write anything of my own.  But then I think, but I want to have this as an account of my life for my kids and grandkids, and then again sometimes I wonder if they will even be interested anyway....sigh.....Told you, my head is kind of all over the place today.  I "think" I will just continue to do the best I can, write when and IF I want to and not stress about this as it is DEFINITELY a silly thing to stress on.
Soooo, having said all that, I want to tell you about a book I read last week-end.  You have probably heard of it, though I hadn't.  My hubby heard about it on a Christian program he listens to on the radio while he is driving for work.  He ordered it and began telling me about it, so I "borrowed" it from him last Sun. afternoon and read the whole thing in about 4 hours.  It was sooo captivating.  It is called...."Heaven is for Real" and it is the true story of a 4 year old boy who almost died and went to heaven and met Jesus.  It is written by his father and is one of the most convincing books on this subject I have ever read.  Children have such an innocence about them that just can't be faked.  The things that are said and told in this book also line up REALLY well (perfectly actually) with scripture as well which is another reason I found it so believable.  Rather or not it is all totally true is not what is important to me.  What was important was how REAL heaven really is and should be to all of us, and how comforting I found it to be described in this book through the eyes of an innocent child.  If you get the chance, get this book and read it, I don't think you will regret it.

I also wanted to tell you that my oldest step grandson Evan, (he is almost 16) fell yesterday afternoon and broke his arm in 6 places!!  Poor Evan....He was skating boarding downhill (which he does daily and has for years btw) and got distracted for a minute and fell.   He is in A LOT of pain and is not even in a cast yet as they are waiting for some of the swelling to go down.  If you get the chance, I am sure he would appreciate a prayer or two.

Mel is doing a "little" better.  At least she is no longer sick ALL DAY EVERY DAY anyway, haha.  She is still working the morning sickness and some tiredness, but I have soo appreciated your prayers for her.  She is 10 weeks today.  She is coming out in 2 more weeks so will be close to being done with her first trimester by then and should be feeling pretty good hopefully.  I am soo anxious to see her and we have lots of things planned.  Soo much to do in a short time, when a short time is all you get.  I am NOT complaining btw, I am VERY grateful she gets to come at all.

Still don't have answers on either my hubby's job, or James's church.  We are still doing the "waiting" thing but things are progressing on both, so guess we will soon see.  Should have answers soon.

I have lost a total of 18 pounds....Sounds good when I type it out, but it seems soo slow to me.  It has taken a little over two months to do that and I have sooo much more to go.  But I am happy to have made a start, and now here is the BIG news....I was able to get my biggest ZIP UP THE FRONT jeans on today, haha.  I hate always having to wear the elastic waisted granny jeans, (even though I AM a granny!) but it is all I have been able to wear all winter.  I guess I am grateful I still had some old ones or I would have had to buy some which would have REALLY been annoying.  Now these jeans I wore today are still kind of snug, and by the end of last winter I was having to roll them twice to even get them to stay on, but I am still pleased, haha.

And finally, I just wanted to tell you that my family and I have an American Idol post where we go on and write posts about our feelings on the show.  It is pretty fun.  I soo enjoy the show.  If any of you would like to read our opinions and join in on comments, please feel free.  You can get there from HERE, and I will post a link to it in my blog roll on the side of my blog as well.

I guess that's all for now.  Told you my head was everywhere.  I tried to do this in a hurry, so I am sorry if there is typo's or downright misspelled words, poor grammar, etc.  It is going to rain here this week-end, sigh, but I am still looking forward to it.  Hope you all have a good one!

  1. Yep, I know what you mean about the blogging thing! I haven't even updated my blog in 2 weeks, I just have not had the time and sometimes I'm just not in the mood. But I do love it, a girl I follow just took comments off of her blog because going around to comment back on all the people commenting on hers felt like a job!!

So glad to hear that Mel is feeling a tad bit better. I always loved the second trimester! She's going to look so cute with a little baby bump!

I hope your Grandson heals very quickly, that sounds like it would hurt quite a bit!

  2. Hi Debbie. Congrats on the weight loss! 18 lbs is awesome!!! I am only down about 7 and that seems like nothing, with so far to go. You can do it! So can I!!! Sorry to hear about your grandson's fall. Hope he is soon feeling better. About the blogging thing, to me it is never a chore. I see who I wish to see, and comment when I feel the desire to add my two cents. I thoroughly enjoy it, and never worry whether or not I have made rounds. Just read and post as you can. Don't put the pressure on yourself of trying to get to everyone else and comment. So not important. I feel like the mega blogs, like Nienie, who have turned off comments, is actually the only way to go. Once you get that big, how can you even read the comments. But for me, the comments are half the fun.
Also..hooray for Mel and her upcoming visit. Hope she is feeling much better by then!!!

  4. Well young lady it is about time you wrote a post, I have been waiting all week for you to post! LOL

Debbie, I have been around blogland and am finding so many people are feeling stressed about blogging. Some are so stressed they are quitting, and some are taking a break.I had even begun to get stressed myself, I found that I was spending to much time on the computer and not spending enough time in the Word and with God.I also was getting further and further behind with my work.
Once I get on the computer it is so hard to get off. LOL.I do enjoy visiting my friends.

So I made a decision, and that is to not go on the internet in the morning, waiting until I have spent time with God and got my work done, and I found that I am not as stressed.

I always enjoy reading about what you have been doing, and of your insights into God's Word. Just do however the Lord leads, after all you are leaving a wonderful heritage for your children and Your grandchildren and that is what matters. And yes, they will appreciate and enjoy your yearly book. Sometimes I go back and read some of my old posts, and believe or not, actually enjoy reading them and wish I had written more. LOl

I am so happy that Mel is doing better, and that you two will be together soon. I remember when Susan was first pregnant and she came home for a visit, bringing her video of the baby, we had so much fun making plans and shopping.

Just a note about James and your dh, I have found in our life that God's timing and ours is not the same, I am a hurry up... yesterday kind of girl. LOL... but have found that He is always on time and His timing is perfect. Please know that I am praying for them and for your health , and Mel too.
Well Debbie, I didn't mean to write a whole letter, so please forgive me going on and on. lol
    Hugs,
    Sue

  6. Ouch! Six places? Hope your grandson heals quickly.

Congrats on the weight loss. Mine is going painfully slow too but I count my progress by ounces lost, not pounds! lol

I totally understand what you mean about keeping up with blogs. I have my blog list set to show the 10 most recently posted, then, whenever I go online, I read the new ones in the top ten. So basically, the more someone updates their blog, the more likely I am to read it.

Have a great weekend. I always enjoy your random thoughts!

  7. I know what you mean with the blogging thing. I have several I follow and sometimes I get so busy I forget to do my own. Then when I do I change the way it looks and get caught up in that. I think of things to write all the time but can not blog at any given moment when I am thinking about it.
Congrats on getting into your jeans and loosing 18 lbs. I am on that track to. Right now I am in a program called Lunchtime Losers which was a 10 week program I am in week 8 almost done. First several weeks I did not loose anything (though I have yo admit I was not eating all that well) Now that I am I am doing much better.
Prayers for your step grandson and new baby...

  8. Oh so enjoyed my chat time with you!!!
I will be praying for your grandson...I am so surprise we didn't have that with all the skateboarding around here, instead it was the 4 year old just playing at the park, go figure. Healing to him.

Glad all is going well with Mel.

Don't stress on blogging...just enjoy! It seems to work for me to only post two or three times a week...but I am newer at this than you, and I then I can visit the ones I love. Do what work works for you...I do enjoy my time here.

Your weight loss...I have to say I am envious!!! Go girl!

Continue to enjoy your growing family...it really is like looking into my future one day, a busy life with married kids and grandkids.

  9. I've been blogging for three years now; in regards to all the "guilt" you have to let it go and do what you can. You have to learn to pace yourself. I nearly wore myself out with visiting everyone the first couple of years. Now, I move around as I can and try and not worry about the rest of it.

FYI, we chat about Idol as well, just not at a blog. I'll have to check yours out.

    Happy Saturday, sister.

  10. Debbie,
    You're so sweet!

Your blog will be a special gift to your children as they are able to read over the thoughts of their Mom and share them with generations to come.

I'm glad to hear Mel is feeling better. 10 weeks! Please remind her to savor every minute. She'll soon look back, with a precious baby in her arms, and wonder where the time went.

So sorry to hear about your grandson and the break if 6 places! Ouch. I've never had a broken bone, and I can only imagine the pain he must be in. May God bless him with fast healing and a heart that trusts Him all the more through this trial.

Congratulations on your weight loss! That is wonderful! You are doing great. Keep up the good work. :)

    Lots of hugs!

  11. OK now girl...don't change a thing about your blog! We all love you just like you are!! And if you get by to visit me, I am honored...no pressure! You will still be my bloggy friend!! I don't get around anywhere near as often as I'd like, but I do what I can with keeping my priorities in line!

WOOHOO on that weight loss!! Can't wait until I can say the same!! All these family dinners we're having lately aren't helping! When it's just us and Maddy, we do really well! LOL!

I will pray for Evan. I can't stand the idea of anyone being in that kind of pain!!

I CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED THE ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT MELLY!!! CONGRATS ON THAT!! And I'll pray her trip home is wonderful and that her sickness has subsided by then!!

    Much love to you!!
    Becky
