HAPPENINGS AND SWEET GRANDS!

Well all my good intentions and yet another WHOLE week went by since my last post.  I keep thinking I will do better, but who knows, maybe this will be my "new normal".  The problem with it  though is that there is soo much I'd like to say that the posts I do get up are kind of ramblings, and simply a run down of what I've been up to, and NOT about the things that might kind of matter at the end of the day. But I guess you will just have to bear with me until I figure out how to do both, haha.

Last week was good.  My mom is doing soooo much better.  Her head is so clear it is almost like my mom pre-stroke.  Soo wonderful.  She has begun her new medication which she is slowly increasing until she reaches the minimum level she has to be at.  I pray she continues with little to no side affects, as this has been so good.  We are working on the things she wants to do in her room.  Hanging pictures here and there.  I did copy all of her grandkid and great grandkid pics and get them into a little flip album for her, and now I am working on the collage.  A bigger challenge as it is hard to get all the pics for it that she wants, but we are getting there.  Still haven't got to the flower swag for over her bed, but I "think" it will happen this week.  ; )  Can you tell I am excited as she is to work on this?  Here are a couple of pics you might enjoy.
LITTLE READING/VIEWING TV CORNER IN MOM'S ROOM.  WE HUNG THESE LITTLE THINGS ON FRIDAY. WE KNOW JUST WHAT WE WANT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LAMP, NOW WE JUST HAVE TO FIND IT SOMEWHERE, HAHA,  THINKING MAYBE HOBBY LOBBY TOMORROW?

CLOSER LOOK....THE BOTTOM PIC IS OF MY MOM'S PARENTS ON THEIR WEDDING DAY, AND THE TOP TWO ARE OF EACH OF THEIR PARENTS ON THEIRS...SOO NEAT.

TRIED TO GET A CLOSER PIC OF MY GRANDPARENTS BUT IT DIDN'T COME OUT VERY CLEAR.  HOWEVER, THE LITTLE OLD FASHIONED CHILD BRIDE AND GROOM FIGURINE JUST WORKED IN PERFECTLY.  MY HUBBY BOUGHT THEM FOR ME ON OUR 10TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY, BUT THEY GO SOO PERFECTLY HERE, JUST HAD TO PUT THEM IN MOM'S ROOM.

THIS IS THE COLLAGE, WITH THE "UNKNOWN" PEOPLE IN IT STILL OF COURSE, HAHA

THE FLIP ALBUM...ISN'T IT CUTE?  HOLDS UP TO 40 PICTURES WHICH IS GOOD SINCE SHE HAS 33 OF THEM ALREADY!
JUST A GLIMPSE OF THE PICTURES INSIDE..

Meanwhile, we have also been working on a digital picture display that she wants to have over at my sisters house.  Sounds easy enough right?  Well between my mom and I have we have bought one that we thought would do what she wanted it to.... but no.  Now we have to return that, and find the one she does want.  She wants to find one that will display the video I put together of our whole family for my step dad's funeral service.  She wants it to play the music that I put with it if she wants, as well as run the video.  The one we own does that, but the one we bought does not...sigh.   My hubby did manage to get the video downloaded to a memory stick, (a whole post in itself, but I will spare you, haha) so we are getting closer to her goal.  It is hard to be "electronically" challenged as I am, lol.  Lots to do this week, so I am trying to get everything else done I need to do today.  ; )

Other than that several of my grands start school today.  I am excited for them all.  I remember those days sooo vividly, and yet they might as well be a lifetime ago.  My hubby used to have a little song he made up and sang every year on the first day of school, though I could never even tell you what tune he sang it to, but it went something like,

"It's the first day of school, and (insert name of whatever kid was getting sung to) thinks it's cool. There is soo much to learn, and now it's your turn, to do all you can, to be all you plan, so better get up now, cuz it's the first day of school."

haha....Never said he was a poet, but my kids always responded with groans and giggles.  Don't think he ever missed a year.  I remember he even sung it to Mel on her very last year of college as a senior.  She would have been disappointed if he hadn't.  I watch my grandkids now with my kids as their parents and there is such a mixture of pride, nostalgia, love, hope, and yes even sadness missing years gone by.  My youngest son and his wife have chosen to homeschool this year and they are soo excited about it.  I know they will do well.  My son put together a little classroom in their home for them to use and we got to see it yesterday when we went over there for lunch after church.  Here are a couple pics of it.

LOVE THIS....
TWO OF THE EAGER NEW STUDENTS

THE CUPBOARD AND BINS THAT ARE STORING ALL OF THEIR BOOKS AND MATERIALS.  CAPRI IS SHOWING THE BOOKS THEY ARE GOING TO BE READ TO, BUT SHE TURNED HER HEAD AT THE LAST MINUTE, AND GRANDMA DIDN'T NOTICE UNTIL RIGHT NOW,  HAHA

HERE IS THE PIC MY SON POSTED THIS MORNING AS THEY WERE READY TO START THEIR DAY...HOW CUTE ARE THEY?
LINDSEY AND JEFFIE ON THEIR FIRST DAY....LIN PUT TOGETHER THIS LITTLE COLLAGE AND POSTED IT FOR GRANDMA SO I COULD SHARE IT TOO....SOO CUTE, I LOVE IT AND THEM!
I've been dwelling a bit on yesterday's message.  It was the passage in Mark where Jesus is telling his disciples not to keep the little children from coming to Him. Mark 10 verses 13-16.  How he held them in His arms, and blessed them.  It also talks about how it GREATLY displeased Him that the disciples were trying to keep the children away from Him.  He of course reminded us all that WE are His children.  How much He loves.  How much He wants to bless us.  How we don't have to be perfect or deserving of His love and blessing.  We just have to accept the gift of it all, just like our kids are always willing to accept our gifts from us.  Our attitudes just have to be that simple and childlike.  It just so happens it is where he is in his verse by verse teaching on Sunday mornings, but it sure worked in well with the time of the year it is and kids returning to school and all I am thinking.  Sometimes it is hard for me to really wrap my head around just how much we are loved by our Father in heaven.  But I do know how much I love my kids and grandkids, and marvel at how much MORE He love us.

Just had to share a couple of pics....well, just because.  : )

TELLA'S JOY AT CLEANING UP HER ROOM ALL BY HERSELF, (NOW HERE IS THE IMPORTANT PART) WITHOUT BEING TOLD!

SHOWING OFF HER JUST CLEANED BY THE DENTIST FOR FIRST TIME TEETH!  NO CAVITIES FOR ANY OF THEM, YAY!
THIS IS SAM'S TOUGH GUY FACE, HAHA....SHE TELLS HIM, "MAKE YOUR TOUGH GUY FACE SAM" AND HE DOES THIS...SOO CUTE, AND PRETTY SMART TOO IF THIS GRANDMA CAN SAY SO!

HERE IS 11 MONTHS OLD ALREADY!  CAN'T HONESTLY BELIEVE IT.  WASN'T HE JUST BORN?  HOPEFULLY I WILL SEE THIS LITTLE GUY NEXT MONTH ON HIS FIRST BIRTHDAY!

Hope you all have a wonderful week, full of child like joy and love!

Blessings, Debbie

For those of you who do not know her, you will definitely want to check out Elaine Olsen at Peace for the Journey.  I have been following her for a couple of years now and I honestly just can't tell you how much she encourages and blesses me.  Here is a link to a video about the book she has just written.  I can't wait to read it! You can read all about it HERE...

  1. Oh I'd love to know the tune of "It's the First Day of School." I'm glad to know that there are others out there who do such things. That entire story made me grin.

Another thing that made me grin was the photos in your mom's room. Now you know for a fact that your mother's mother looked very much like her mother. It's interesting to see the family characteristics show up even generations later. Lovely nook and I'm sure that she'll enjoy it a lot. So good to know that she is feeling and doing so much better on the new meds.

Have another great week staying busy and being happy. Your grands are adorable and the little one cleaning her room all on her own? A+++++ !
