Well another week has begun, and one full week of October is already behind can it be?  I am REALLY enjoying the change in the weather, and it is suppose to continue ALL week.  YAY!!  The week-end was just as I anticipated it being.  A whole bunch of nothing, haha.  Sat. morning was lazy and slow....just as Sat. mornings should be.  Sat. afternoon we went to lunch and stopped by my oldest son's house and visited with them and that set of grands for a couple of hours before heading home.  Sun we went to church and then back to my youngest son's house and spent the whole afternoon with them before heading back.  I talked to my middle son for a good long while on the phone before we ate last night.  It was good to catch up with them all.  We grocery shopped on our way home and spent the evening just relaxing.  A nice, restful, uneventful week-end.   Big smiles!!

Today I am spending catching up laundry.  Funny how much 3 adults can accumulate in just a week.  I am wanting soo badly to make up some pumpkin bread or something "pumpkiny" but I am doing my best to restrain.  I just DON'T need the added sugar or calories, but I am craving it for some reason.  : )

In my head I am busy trying to organize a few coming events.  I have to mull things over in my head for a while before I begin them, haha.  One thing on the horizon is my oldest son's coming 40th birthday.  WOW!!  A 40 year old son!  That really makes me feel old for some reason.  Never mind I had him at 18, it STILL seems old.  Now his birthday is not until the 27th of Nov., but like I said I have to plan ahead.  I have not had any kind of a birthday party for Joe since he turned 30.  And his 30th birthday was SUCH a hard one for Joe.  He had just lost his first wife to cancer a month earlier, and the picture of his face in front of his cake said it all.  I honestly can't believe it's been 10 years already.  We always get together as many of us (just our immediate family is a crowd!) as we can for a special dinner on birthdays, but I want to do this one up big.   Hubby and I booked a room at the Spaghetti Factory for the first Saturday in Dec, because believe it or not EVERY Friday, Sat., and Sun., in December is ALREADY taken at our clubhouse.  I honestly just couldn't believe it.  This will be simpler I think in the long run, but definitely a little more expensive.  But some things are just worth it.  I am thinking around 40 people, but I have got some time to dwell on that now that we have the location booked.

Such a cutie!  Women would pay hundreds of dollars for his natural golden highlights, hah
This Thursday after women's Bible study, I am going to stop by the hospital on my way back, as my grandson Cody is going to have some tests done.  This little guy is just the sweetest little thing and how much I love him could never be explained.  But he has had some issues for a while now that they are trying to get to the bottom of.  He is 3 and half years old and speaks very minimally is the biggest one.  Autism has been suggested, but the doctor is thinking that IF it is, he would be considered VERY mild.  This has been a lot to digest, and of course we have lifted him to the Lord many times.  I KNOW He loves Cody even more than we do, and He has Him firmly in His Hands and in His care.  We are seeking His wisdom in dealing with all of this, and I would covet your prayers both for the procedures and tests that will be done, and for my oldest son and his wife as they deal with all that is involved.

I have been practicing for a while now NOT TO WORRY.  Easier said than done of course.  In this fallen world we live in, there is ALWAYS something to worry about.  Let's face it, things are so often not as they should be.  Anxious thoughts are always trying to worm their way into our minds.   I am finding recently that the best defense against this is continual communication with our God, richly seasoned with thanksgiving.  Awareness of Him fills our minds with Light and Peace, leaving NO room for fear or anxious thoughts.  This awareness lifts us up above our circumstances, no matter what they may be, and floods our hearts with His peace that enables us to see things from another prospective.  With this relationship with Him, we can fight the problems of this fallen world sooo much easier.

Luke 12:25,26  And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?  If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?

1 Thessalonians 5:16,17,18  Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

As always it seems I will leave with a cute pic of one of my grands....Enjoy it and your week!  Blessings to you all!

Donatella has recently begun gymnastics and the teacher has declared her a natural....she is LOVING it one way or another.  Can't believe what a big girl she is getting to be!

  1. You are such a devoted mother and grandmother. It's always fun to see what you have up your sleeve. I read with interest about your precious Cody and I know that his parents will chase this down just as my son and daughter-in-law did. Our little grand is doing so much better and yet I well remember all of our concerns. I'll just add a prayer or two for Cody when I pop in. Take care now...have a great week.

  2. You have such good advice about dealing with anxiety. If we focus on our circumstances or the things going on around us we are going to get anxious, instead I think you are right we need to fill our mind with what his word says...less room for the anxiety to camp out. Praying that your week is blessed

  3. I regularly struggle with anxiety/worry. You've reminded me that I don't have to let that consume me. Thanks.

  4. Ooops, hit publish too soon. I'll definitely be praying for Cody, your family, the technicians who will administer the tests, and the doctors who will determine what is going on. {{hug}}

  5. Worry is something that I've always struggled with. I think I inherited that gene from my mom. :)

However, after the last few years of upheaval, I've learned how very faithful and trustworthy God is. It's a shame that it takes major life challenges to learn this but it did. There are still times when I am tempted to worry but then I remember how God has brought us to this place and time in life and ...I'm OK!

  6. Dear Debbie, Love hearing about your days(seems I say that alot); I will definitely be praying for Cody-I know what it is like to have a special needs grandchild. I have also heard of a condition where a child doesn't talk and the specialists call it something...mutism(sorry can't remember the first word). One of my daughter's children are all delayed speaking but they are fine, just slow to talk.
One of my granddaughter's is on the autism spectrum and is growing out of it. Hope you have a great afternoon.
    Love, Noreen

  7. Oh, Debbie, I will certainly be praying for your precious Grandson and his family during this time of uncertainity. Goodness, life is just so tough and seems to always be throwing us a curve ball. But, thank God for His unwavering love and peace in our lives.

    Enjoyed sharing in your weekend!

  8. Oh lifting him up right now and the whole family, lifting before a loving God!
Your love for your family and all it contains is always an inspiration for me...and hey, you are the best looking mother of a 40 year old I know!!! I only wish I would look that good.

    Hugs...for your week!

  9. Laundry is the same way here in our house and we're 3 people as well. But my son does play football and hubby has PT with the cadets every morning, so that's 2 outfits a day for both of them. Sorry to hear about your grandson. Hope it goes well! I'm getting ready to have a endoscope on Monday and I know you've had one, any advice???? Thank!

  10. "Awareness of Him fills our minds with Light and Peace, leaving NO room for fear or anxious thoughts. This awareness lifts us up above our circumstances, no matter what they may be . . . "

Amen! Would that we would all do better at getting to Jesus quicker when the fears come.

    peace and prayers~elaine

I am so glad that you would take the time to comment on my thoughts and feelings, it is such a blessing to me!
