A WONDEROUS WEEK-END!

Sam watching the Super bowl, haha

I have had a VERY busy last 3 days, and tomorrow is shaping up to be just as busy so I thought I would try to put up a quick post while hubby is watching the end of the super bowl.  I usually watch the game, but this year just can't really work up the interest.  Soo let's see.  On Friday I took  Mom to a new doctor.  We are finally making the switch to a doc near me and to say my mom is apprehensive would be putting it mildly, and honestly I know how she feels.  Change of any sort is always hard for some (this gal for sure!) and you do become attached to your doc. if you feel you have had a good one.  But!  I LOVED the new doc.  Mom STILL has an infection so she is getting her started on a new antibiotic so hopefully mom will start feeling better soon.  She did NOT do well with her new diabetic medicine either and has just been quite sick all last week as a result of these two things.  She is going to spend a week off of any med at all for this, and maybe, just maybe she will be able to get by without one at all.  You never know, but I am not counting on it.  It was just another hard week for poor mom.  While she is gathering "some" strength, she has just felt soo badly all week it has been somewhat of a nightmare.  It is soo frustrating when you feel you are doing all you can, and yet they just continue to struggle.  I am really praying that it all gets figured out soon and mom gets back to her old self before she broke her neck.  Hubby and I were suppose to go out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary, but honestly I was just soo whipped after my day getting mom to the docs, picking up prescriptions, and then driving her to my sisters, I told my hubby I would just rather do it some other time.  He was soo understanding about it all, and ended up making us a WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL dinner complete with FANTASTIC t-bone  steaks, mushrooms, broccoli in cheese sauce and mashed potatoes.  It was sooo good!  As I sat sipping a cup of my favorite tea after dinner we put on season 3 of Downtown Abbey and honestly felt the night was perfect.  : )

On Sat. we relaxed most of the morning (OH how I needed this!) and then we went out to lunch at our favorite sea food place, and then we headed over to my oldest son's karate studio as he was hosting a Judo seminar in which the grand master of his system of karate was going to teach a special class.  Joe has been working hard to get his studio into shape for this, and we were excited to see how it was all going.  It was an interesting day.  I guess it is always interesting to me when you can watch one of your adult children in their world.  Joe is a 5th degree black belt and is soo good at it and I have always enjoyed watching him do it.  But what Joe is now is an excellent teacher.  I loved watching him demonstrate the various moves and help the students learn.  There were children, teenagers and adults involved in the seminar, including my oldest grandson Evan.  Evan is also a black belt, and at almost 18 (next month!) he is SUCH a giant help to his dad at the studio.  He helps teach the lower ranked belts and occasionally the group classes as well.  He is REALLY good also (do I sound like a proud mom and Grandma?  sorry, I can't help it, smile).  I actually forgot my camera!  I was soo upset I wanted to go back home and get it, but it would have been crazy, so we settled for the camera on hubby's phone.  It actually took pretty good photos.  Here are a few of the day...

GRANDDAUGHTER LINDSEY, THE CUTE SNACK BAR GIRL!  HAHA  SHE ACTUALLY DID PRETTY WELL!

And then today was our grandson Cody's 4th birthday!  Sooo we decided to go to church at our old church so that we could be at the park by their house at 12:00 to help him celebrate!  I missed my son's preaching to be sure ; ) but it was REALLY good to listen to our old Pastor.   The day honestly just couldn't have been nicer.  The weather was PERFECT.  Sunny and warm, but not too warm, and the kids and adults alike just had such a good time.  Cody is doing really well.  If you recall he underwent some tests a while back, and the doc's have determined that he does have a significant speech delay, so he is getting started in some speech therapy classes, and is really doing soo much better.  He was a REAL sweetie on the day, and I enjoyed him to pieces.  Here are some pictures of this day.  Remembered my camera today....YAY!

I know there were a lot of pictures in this post, but I am just about done, haha.  All in all it was a relaxing, wonderful week-end, and especially now with my hard weeks I appreciate them more than you can imagine.  I will leave you with a picture Melody sent me to PROVE she IS actually bigger this time than she was with Sam.  I believe you now Mel, lol.

20 WEEKS (HALF WAY!) WITH SAM IN THE RED, AND 21 WEEKS WITH LUKE IN THE BLUE!  YES, SIGNIFICANTLY BIGGER! HAHA
Oh!  and I have just one more I just HAVE to share....Melody took this picture of Sam on Friday.  Possibly the cutest thing I ever saw.  Now if you knew her husband Mike the way we all do, you would know he reads this paper/magazine EVERY day.  Her caption read....Like Father, Like Son.  I just loved it!

HOW FUNNY IS THIS?

Hope you all have a good week!  I am praising God who blesses me more than I could ever, ever deserve!

  5. Have prayed that this will be a much better week for your mom and therefore everyone! I know we only feel about as well as the one in the family who is not doing so great. Cute photos of the family...you are blessed with the most beautiful grandchildren. I enjoy seeing them in all their various activities and a happy birthday to the handsome little guy who'll be catching up in short order. He just hasn't had much to say yet.

  6. Debbie
I love all your photos and I think the ones taken with the phone are pretty good too. I hope things settle with your mom. I think having a doc closer to you is going to be a big help but your right change is hard. I remember when we brought my SIL from out of state, everyone kept telling us to make sure her docs and the assisted living were close to us because we would be the ones that would be taking her everywhere. It was the best advice we were given. Will be praying for you all. Have a good week

  8. Hi Debbie, Boy girl, I'm worn out just hearing about your weekend! I am thankful you found a new dr. for your mom. It is fun to see how big Mel is(though I think she is just arching her back a lot); she is much bigger than Carrie-my girl isn't even wearing prego clothes. You sure can't tell that this is number six.
Hope you have a wonderful evening.
    Hugs Noreen

  9. I feel like I've just had a nice long visit with you with every post, Debbie. Good news and bad, it's all the ups and downs of life, isn't it? Praying this new doctor is able to really help your sweet mom. Mel looks great and she is bigger this time. It's sweet that she seems to want to be big. A lot of young women try to stay thin but Mel is proud of her tummy and I think that's great.
    Hugs & Prayers~

  11. I was cracking up at the first photo of Sam watching the Super Bowl. Too funny! So sorry that your mom is going through all of this. You are very patient, kind and loving. It's hard to see your parent go through this. I pray that she will feel better.

And happy birthday to little Cody. He's a cutie. I enjoyed the photos. And yes, I could see you in the corner watching all of the activities.

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie

  12. Your Melody is just stunning. I think that whenever you post a picture of her. She looks just beautiful, and yep. She's bigger!

She absolutely MUST frame that picture of Sam with the magazine. That's adorable! Actually, your quiver is just full of adorable kids, IMO.

I'm so glad to read that you had a good week. You are right that after recent weeks (months!) you deserve it.

And I wish I knew some self defense or at least something of the martial arts.

  13. Wow what a busy week and weekend.. Im sorry your mom is going through so much and I know how exhausted you must be.I remember caring for my mom when she had cancer. I was always always tired and now Ive been caring for my husband for the last 3 years because of a severe spine problem. He just had his spine completely reconstructed and I can not WAIT for him to heal so maybe I can slow down a bit.. The boys are so beautiful... And Melody? I think she's got to be one of the most beautiful pregnant women I've ever seen..
