FABRIC SALE!

It's Friday again and what a week of gorgeous weather it has been here in Southern California!  Spring is definitely in the air!   On Wed. mom and I headed down to the JoAnne's in Ontario as not only is it one of the biggest JoAnne's, it also has the little scooters.  Now mom has not been in a scooter since breaking her neck, and she was kind of hesitant to give it a whirl, but she decided she would try.  She did perfectly!  YAY!  I really want to get started on my sewing for the new babies, and I had a 20 percent off your entire purchase coupon, so I thought I might get a couple of things.  WELL!  After we arrived, I discovered that the Snuggle flannel fabric was 60 percent off!  This was not advertised (I can't imagine why ~ or maybe I just missed it!) so I was almost giddy.  My coupon was good for even "sale" items, meaning that meant the fabric would be 80 percent off altogether!!  80 percent!!  Practically free, haha!  I decided to stock up some.  The receiving blankets, little nightshirts, and the burp cloths are all made with this flannel.  So I just bought a bunch of what I liked, in the colors Larissa prefers (Mel still has plenty of these items from Sam to pass down to Luke) and I will decide later what is going to be for what.  I am also going to make 3 rag quilts.  Now these will be VERY planned, so I did not purchase any fabric for them yet, HOWEVER, some of what I bought might work.  I am going to be making a single sized bed quilt for Sam's new room and big boy bed out of John Deere.  And then I am going to make one each for the new babies.  I am also going to make them both some sheets, and bumper pads for Larissa, and new valances for Melody.  As you can see LOTS AND LOTS of sewing to do, and I am soo looking forward to it.  I have researched and studied how to make the rag quilts, and I honestly think they will be very easy,  so I hope I am not wrong with 3 of them planned.  Here are some of the fabrics I bought.

THE 3 COLORS ON THE LEFT ARE THE START OF THE RAG QUILT FOR LARISSA'S NEW BABY (MAYBE) AND THE JOHN DEERE PLAID AND THE GREEN WILL BE USED FOR SAM'S QUILT.

Almost 3 hours later we left JoAnnes and decided to stop for some lunch.  It was such a beautiful day that we went through a drive through and rolled down our windows and ate in the car.  I thought it might be a little easier than getting mom in and out of the car again, but then eating in the car with her neck brace on was not exactly hassle free either.  Oh well, we enjoyed our lunch nonetheless. After that we decided to stop by Joe's new studio as we had to drive right by it on our way home, and mom of course has not seen it yet.  Joe was there with Cody and the painter was there as well finishing up with the last of the art work.  Now Joe has been technically opened for a couple of months now, teaching his regular classes and doing his private lessons and all, and has signed up several new students as well (thank you Lord!) but his big grand opening is this week-end.  He has both the fire department coming with a big fire engine the kids can see, and the police department as well as Joe is doing a free community service Kid Safety Day.  They have advertised in the paper, and have sent home over 10,000 flyers in the local school system about this event.  Hopefully this will also bring many more new students to the studio.  Mom was soo happy to see Joe as she has not seen him in a while.  Cody was happy to see me and we enjoyed our time.  Poor mom was really tired after our outing though, and took a 3 hour nap after we got home!

Today I am busy doing laundry and getting mom's stuff together to go to my sister's for the week-end.  Hope you all have a wonderful week-end, and having something relaxing planned.  Blessings to you all!
