UNPLANNED EVENTS AND THE FINISHED QUILT!

This will hopefully be kind of brief as I have a LONG LONG day ahead of me.  Bottom line... mom had another LARGE seizure first thing yesterday morning which involved a call to the paramedics and the entire morning spent in the emergency room.  Several tests and hours later they released her and I spent the rest of the day caring for her post seizure issues which consist of BAD headache, extreme weakness and fatigue, BAD confusion and still talking kind of jibberishly.  I finally got her into bed by 10 and she slept really well all night (Praise God!).  This morning she is still kind of confused, slight head ache, and she's added to her list irritability and testiness.  We have a doc appointment to follow up with everything at 11, and I need to get her laundry all done in order to get her packed up to go to my sisters this evening.  OH, and I need to go to the pharmacy and pick up her prescriptions (but I will wait until after the doc's in case there is anything new) and get her pills all together in her pill cases for my sisters this week-end.  I am tired before I begin....sigh.   I decided to look for some good in this mess and here is what I came up with....First, she was sitting right beside me when the seizure began (I could tell she was a little off though we get almost NO warning) and she did not fall or hurt herself in any way.  Though, let me tell you, it was VERY scary to watch.  Which brings me to the second blessing.  My hubby had not left for work yet and was right there to help me with it all.  Third, there was nothing else wrong and we were released from the hospital by noon.  And fourth, I guess she is talking just fine this morning, (even if she did somewhat snip at me ~ at least I can understand what she is saying, haha).  And that's all I got for now...OH, wait the other BIG blessing is that she will go to my sisters house until Monday afternoon and I will get a much needed break.  I am soo grateful I get my week-ends to relax.  OK, now I am feeling a little better.

Other than that I did finally get the quilt completely done.  I am thrilled with it.  Came out a little better than I was hoping for and truthfully at one point I had my doubts, lol.  The mess it made was REALLY considerable though by the time I washed and dried it 3 times and shook it out and trimmed it etc.   I was planning on getting the sham done too, but yesterday kind of changed those plans.  There is NO hurry.  Just my own eagerness to "see it" all done.  Meanwhile I have been communicating with a gal who put together pre-cut, pre-fringed kits for these quilts.  "If" she would let me chose my own fabrics and combinations of those fabrics then I think I am going to do this.  I am just VERY specific about what I want though.  The gal is very talented, very helpful and seems to be totally willing to accommodate me, so hopefully I will be ordering one soon.  She told me she has a commercial machine that cuts the squares AND cuts the fringe.  Takes her no time at all.  I wonder what the machine is...anybody know?  Probably very expensive though.

Sorry, felt like you needed a few angles, and the lighting and the coloring is not really very good.  It is a little darker than these photos.

HAPPY WITH THE FRINGE!

THE BACKING

JUST ANOTHER ANGLE

We are hoping to get to a softball game for my grand daughter tomorrow, and I do have some errands to take care of for my sister's 60th birthday party/Easter celebration the following week-end, AND there is another sale at JoAnne's and I have a 25% off my entire purchase coupon too, haha.  Soo I think it will be a busy week-end.  Hope you all have a good one!  Blessings to you all.  Debbie

So sorry about your mom, (we have the same problem with my sister in law and it's a pretty helpless feeling while a seizure is in process) Love your attitude, will be praying the Lord will give you the strength you need to get through today and that both you and your mom will have a restful weekend. Quilt is lovely, pretty colors together. Enjoy your weekend

  4. So sorry that your mother had another seizure and I am sorry that it causes her to feel snippy. I think I'd be snippy, too. Hope that her weekend with your sister goes very well for her and that you get the chance to rest and relax this weekend.

The quilt is so cute! Love, love, love it.

  5. Debbie, I can't imagine how scared you must have been. What a journey you are going through with your dear mother. So happy that you get a short break this weekend.

Your quilt is looking so good! What an accomplished feeling you must have when you look at it.

  6. Debbie, I am so glad that God kept your husband home for that time so he was there to help you. I can't imagine how frightening it is when you don't get any kind of warning. I'm glad she is home (or by now at your sister's home which is even better for you rest wise.) What a blessing to have a sister to share this "job" with you. I know you do it for love alone, but it is still a job. I'm glad you get a breather on the weekends.

I hope there are no more seizures in the near future at all, and as for the quilt, it's just going to be beautiful. I have never made one.

  9. Goodness, I am so sorry about your Mom. It's 3 steps forward and one step back it seems. So glad she didn't fall.

Guess your quilting is theraputic for you and it's so good that you have something like that.

Hope it is a good weekend and a wonderful new week!
