STRIVING FOR THE PERFECT BLANKET.. ; )

It's Thursday afternoon and I don't really have much to share.  I have been sewing this week here and there as I have gotten the chance.  Still working on the receiving blankets.  I am pleased (but only in a way) with what I have made, but I have yet to make the "perfect" blanket, and yes I believe it IS possible and DOES exist! haha.  So far I have made 5 (if you count the "ruined" one!) and there is a little something wrong with every one of them.  Now probably nobody but me would ever notice, but I WILL prefect these.  In the meantime, it is definitely a learning process.  AND! I just had to tell you what my wonderful hubby did for me.  I have a VERY hard time measuring things.  Not sure why, but probably some of it has to do with my need to do things quickly.  Sooo as I was complaining explaining to my hubby my dilemmas, he told me, "I will make you a pattern of the two different sized squares you are using."  I thought to myself, this could be the answer!  Well he made them for me last night, and 8 minutes later I had cut out my latest blanket, and it was CUT perfectly!  Now all I had to do was SEW it perfectly and I would accomplish my goal.  But alas it was not to be....not yet anyway.  I did a dumb thing and one corner is not as perfect as I want it.  But!  not bad enough to rip out.  Especially since flannel tears kind of easy when a nearsighted woman like me is doing the ripping...sigh.  But here they are!

CUTE FABRIC.THE FLIP SIDE OF THESE BLANKETS IS OF COURSE WHAT THEY ARE TRIMMED IN...

THIS IS THE LATEST, THE ONE MOST NEAR PERFECT, HAHA!

One day a week I try to sit aside to let mom decide what she wants to do.  It isn't hard to guess what she will come up with, as I think it is always shopping and lunch out, haha.  Today we hit Target and she scooted around in the scooter as happy as can be.  The we went to Claim Jumper for lunch and she treated us both to tasty, wonderful salads.  Tomorrow we have to get her neck x-ray AGAIN, and on Tues we will head back to Newport to the surgeons.  Hopefully she will be released from the neck brace then

Guess that's all I got.  I am looking forward to the week-end as it is my sweet Jeffie's 9th birthday, and my youngest son James's as well.  We will do Jeff on Sat. and James on Sun.  Hope you all have a wonderful week-end!  Blessings to you all!

  2. Debbie,
The blankets are adorable, and I can't see any mistakes at all. These will be laundered and used daily, so don't worry too much about perfection! I think you must be a Type A like me!!!
Happy Birthday to Jeffie and your son! Enjoy the weekend, and my fingers are crossed for your Mom to have a good report!!

  3. Those blankets are adorable! I certainly don't see any mistakes - and I'd like to think that as a fellow sewing/quilting aficionado, I'd be able to find one if there was one. ;-) And even if there are mistakes, no one is going to be going over them as closely as you are while you're making them ... they're going to be used, not inspected.

Praying for a good reports from the doctor - no more neck brace! ;-)

And happy birthday to Jeffie & James!
