A NEW WEEK!

Good morning to you all!  It is a somewhat overcast day here today, and I guess there is even a chance of rain.  I am just in the mood for it too.  I have yet to shut my windows, dig out my jeans and long sleeved tops, or worn anything on my feet but sandals.  It "might" finally be time.  Cool weather is a LONG time coming here in Southern California.  I just have to live through my blogging friends who have not only had gorgeous Fall colors going, but have even already had snow and their fire places going for a while in some cases, for things like that, lol.

Our week-end was busy and productive.  I finished up the Christmas stockings for my oldest son's family.  I had such a good time with them.  There are 7 members of that family, with children ranging in ages from just 4 to 18, so it was a little challenging to get something that suited them all, but I think I did.  Let me show you....

LOOKING AT THIS NOW I REALIZE IT DOES NOT SHOW THESE OFF VERY WELL, AND IS REALLY KIND OF BLURRY...SIGH, BUT I DON'T HAVE TIME TO RE-DO IT, AND I THINK YOU GET THE IDEA.  THE GIRLS ARE A PATCHWORK QUILT, AND THE BOYS WERE A SOLID GREEN.  THE FABRIC IN THE QUILTED ONE IS NOT REALLY CHRISTMAS FABRIC, BUT I DON'T THINK IT REALLY MATTERS.

JOE'S AND 18 YEAR OLD EVAN'S...LOVED THESE BUTTONS I FOUND.  I THINK YOU CAN SEE THE QUILTED FABRIC, AND I USED MY DECORATIVE STAR STITCH ON THE CUFF'S.  YOU CAN'T SEE THAT THE NAMES ARE EMBROIDERED IN A VARIEGATED THREAD OF GREENS AND REDS, BUT IT IS REALLY PRETTY!

THE TWO LITTLEST BOYS I ADDED ON CHRISTMAS TREE AND REINDEER BUTTONS...SOO CUTE! YOU CAN SEE THE STARS BETTER HERE!

AND THE GIRLS GOT A DIFFERENT DECORATIVE STITCH AND FABRIC FLOWERS ON THEIRS...I LOVE THE WAY THESE TURNED OUT!
The embroidery part of my new machine has gotten easier and easier.  I am still figuring things out as I play with it, but it has become soo much more fun as it has gotten easier to do.  HOWEVER, the tension was a little off so we took the machine in on Sat to look at and at first I was a little annoyed.   But when they pointed out that I have put on 240,00 stitches in a month and explained to me that it was more at the rate of a professional seamstress I calmed down a little bit. Most people I guess who own a machine like mine might put on that number of stitches in 8 or 9 months I guess, which explains why mine would need a good cleaning and adjustment in that amount of time.  I am not sure what I am going to do about this as I sure don't want to have to run over there with it that often, but I am not sure what that is going to be.  I could maybe trade up to one that would accommodate more of that kind of use, or stop using it quite as much ~ but I already KNOW that is not going to happen, lol ~ but for now I guess I will just see what happens.  But I have lots of sewing planned for even after the holidays as my niece has asked me to make her nursery bedding, and I am soo excited about that, and I plan to get going on some more quilting too.  But in the meantime, I am soo glad that I finally am feeling like I might have figured out how to use most of this machines capabilities.

My grand daughter Lindsey sent me over a picture of herself in the tutu I made and it was just soo cute on her I have to show you.  She loves it! which makes all the "fiddling" it took to make it worth while, lol.  I also love that it only cost me 5 dollars to make!  To buy a ready made one would cost closer to 40, and probably wouldn't have fit as well.

HOW DARLING IS SHE?  GOING TO MAKE A PRETTY CUTE MINNIE MOUSE I AM THINKING
I have a couple more cute pictures to post and then I need to get busy cutting out some Christmas jammies which are on the schedule for this week.  My machine is suppose to be ready by noon, so I want to be able to get right to work.  Hope you are all healthy ~ seems like some bugs are starting to go around, sigh ~ and looking forward to a wonderful week!  Blessings and hugs, Debbie

  5. What nice stockings! I just laughed at how many stitches you have put on your machine. That just shows how busy you have been. I think you need some kind of reward for that.
I think your machine was a good investment. I love how good you have got with those embroidery stitches.
I think that Tutu turned out really nice. It looks really good on. You are so talented. I don't know how you get it all done. I loved the picture of the boys in the Halloween shirts. They just look so cute.
We finally had rain. It is so nice to have the dirt washed from the air. The cold is very nice too.
    Have a wonderful week.

  6. Oh wow! That is a lot of sewing! Do you think you'll upgrade? Ya never know what you're going to need until you dive right in. I can see the wisdom in an upgrade, especially if you don't want to be taking it to the shop four or five times a year, The Christmas stockings are all wonderful! The tutu looks adorable on your beautiful model. Keep having fun!

  7. Girl you didn't slow down you ran!! Those are wonderful. Now question...do you stuff all those grandchildren's stockings or they all at your house? Just wondering...I tried to keep stockings going as they married and it got to be too much...well they had their own then ones from in-laws.
    Your work is just wonderful
Your machine is working great...my old Bernina is still sewing...yet I don't sew as much as I would like to. So glad you are enjoying yours

  8. What a sweet, sweet family you have, Debbie! I really love the stocking you created...your talent never ceases to amaze! Thanks for your input regarding Abby's BF. It's a tough situation. The more we push, the more she defends him. So, hopefully, the next 2 weeks that she's grounded will give her the opportunity to reflect and make better decisions where he's concerned.
