I really have nothing new to say but decided to put up a quick post anyway. Our week-end was good. On Sat. we went and checked out a couple of venues for Melody. Like I mentioned she is throwing a baby shower in early March for my niece Jessie, and she had searched online for some places she thought might work. Kind of hard to do from another state, lol, so she wanted me to swing by and make sure they were all they claimed to be. One was, and DEFINITELY was not. Good thing she had me check is all I can say. The first one was beautiful and I think that is the one she is going to use. The second one was MUCH smaller than they said. Honestly, there would be more room here. And considering there might be between 45 and 50 women, my house just won't accommodate. Anyway after that we enjoyed a delicious salad and then went and saw the movie Philmena. I might not be spelling that right, but I am not going to look it up right now, lol. It was REALLY good I thought. True story of a woman who was forced to give her baby away when she was quite young and her search to find him. Those kind of stories are always close to my heart as I was a young 17 year old unwed mom 41 years ago. Judy Bench is amazing in the role. I laughed and cried my way through it. We did some grocery shopping after that and then spent a quiet evening at home. Sunday found us down in San Diego at church (where I got to hold sleeping, sweet baby Vinny) and then at my son's house afterwards for a delicious meal and to watch the San Diego Chargers win their game. Sorry if there are any Bangles fans out there. Lots of fun. This morning I am scurrying around as my niece Jessie and her mother are on their way over here to look for fabrics and patterns so I can get cracking on the bedding for the baby. I got a new lap top for Christmas and so far I am having a hard time learning it's ways and getting around on it, so shopping on line for fabrics will be interesting to say the least, lol. The weather here is just GORGEOUS, which makes me feel kind of bad when there are soo many of you surrounded in freezing snow. But considering we live in a SUPER crowded state, and therefore have our own list of issues, I am going to be grateful for what California DOES have. And that is BEAUTIFUL surroundings and GORGEOUS weather. Seriously the drive down the coast yesterday to San Diego was just breathtaking. The sun glistened on the water while the waves crashed on the shore and a gentle breeze blew. Made me want to get out and sit and just bask in it for a while. But we turned the praise music up on the CD player and sang at the top of our lungs instead, lol. Hope you all have a good week. I am praying that I might be productive in all the sewing I already have here to work on for the new baby. And truthfully, my knees and legs ache sooo badly I am hoping it doesn't interfere with my intentions. Blessings to you all! Debbie
I think it sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. What fun to be having a baby shower and you are making the bedding. That is so nice.
ReplyDeleteOur weather is cold but it warms up in the afternoon, but it is so hazy. If we had rain it would be socked in fog.
It is nice though and I am thankful we aren't 40 below.
Have a wonderful week Debbie.
I certainly enjoyed the description of your beautiful drive. It made me feel warmer somehow. Hope that you can get some relief for your aches...no fun at all. Enjoy the sewing!
ReplyDeleteWe have had the opportunity to drive some of the coastline in California (northern part) and it's one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.
ReplyDeleteThe weather here isn't too cold yet but I hear it's coming, by this afternoon it's supposed to be in the teens...I will be snug and warm inside :-)
Well, sure wish we had some of your gorgeous weather here in La. It is suppose to be 12 tonight and that is unheard of here.
ReplyDeleteYou'll love your laptop once you get the hang of it.
Happy new year!
You have such a good spirit despite the pain you face. I admire that! Hope you share your
ReplyDeleteupcoming sewing projects with us. I like seeing all you create.
Praying that you will get some relief for your pain ... soon. {{{hug}}} And hoping that you'll share your sewing with us as you make progress.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you are having so much pain, Debbie. I know it must be so hard. Even though you are in pain you always make so many feel happy reading about your wonderful family and activities, not to mention all you do for your family. I don't think there's any feeling as sweet as holding a sleeping baby.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you checked it out in person. So many descriptions in advertising are so deceiving, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteI love what you said at the end of this post about being happy for what California DOES have in its favor. That was so convicting because far too often I grouse about what my area doesn't have to offer.
I wish someone would host a "I love my state/town party or something. It would be fun to see others figure out what is truly exceptional about where they live.
You wouldn't want to host that now, would you?
And don't look at me. I have enough trouble hosting in real life these days. LOL
OH....sorry to hear about your pain. The drive sounded so relaxing and beautiful. No photos...but I could see the views as I read:) Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteIt's always such fun to read what you write Debbie, as your path up and down the coast is my old stomping grounds, so I can always picture it perfectly!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes... we will do plaid together in 2014!! :)
