WEEK-END WRAP UP...

Well it's bright and early and GORGEOUS out on this Monday morning, and  I am going to put up another quick, and somewhat pointless post and get busy on my day, haha.  Our week-end was just the perfect kind of ordinary.  We leisurely got some errands done (including picking up my quilt...more on that later!) and then went to our favorite spot for lunch.  I rambled last week about how I have been missing sushi and my somewhat disappointing attempt at rectifying that.  Well....in specific, I have missed the Slur roll from Market Broiler.  It is kind of a California roll with Salmon on top with asparagus and a couple of sauces, that truthfully I am not sure what they even are.  But the roll is simply DELICIOUS!!  I ordered it pretty much almost every time I went to the restaurant, and never tired of it.  I have not had in almost 2 years!  Well!!  I just decided I was going to go ahead and eat it on Sat and let the chips fall where they may.  Which could have meant the rest of the day with a HORRIBLE stomach ache.  But I just REALLY felt like it.  I did NOT dip it in their soy sauce (and forgot to bring mine!) and only ate 3 of the 8 pieces you get (hubby helped out with the rest of them) and OH MY GOODNESS it was every bit as good as I remembered!  And! (here is the best part!) NO problems as at all with my stomach!  I know, I know, a DUMB thing to be excited over, but I really was.  Maybe this means that food is way too important to me, lol, but it was honestly just soo good.  After that we saw a movie, which we frequently do on Sat afternoons in case you haven't figured that out by now after reading my somewhat similar blog posts, lol, and then ran a few more errands, including a GIANT grocery shop.  Sunday we drove down the coast to church and enjoyed a fantastic service and spent just a little time with the grands and then headed back home.  We stopped at Joannes on the way home as I have been unable to find a pattern I was looking for to make the bed skirt for nieces baby bed.  SUCESS finally!  And then we spent the rest of the afternoon watching a little football and putting together a no sew blanket for my hubby's sister.  Actually all I really did was supervise and instruct as hubby wanted to make it for her.  He did a fantastic job!  In fact, if any more of these are needed in the future, he will be the man for the job, lol.  Seriously, he was soo careful about his cutting, it was just perfect.  I am MUCH MUCH quicker, and therefore not nearly as accurate.  But he was soo pleased with himself, and I KNOW his sister will love it.  She is a BIG bears football fan, so the fabric was picked for her.  Here it is....

KIND OF HARD TO SEE HERE AS IT IS LAYING ON OUR AREA RUG IN FAMILY ROOM.  HE PULLED OUT THE COFFEE TABLE AND CRAWLED AROUND ON THE FLOOR TO DO IT.  I ADMIT IT WOULD BE A NICE WAY TO DO IT, IF YOUR KNEES ALLOWED IT!

I am sad to say that if you are football fans then you know that the Patriots are now OUT of the super bowl as well as the Chargers, so much for this season, lol.  I know from reading around that there are many Bronco's fans out there, but considering they have beaten BOTH of our favorites now, they are NOT my pick for the Super bowl.  Gooo Seahawks!

Ok, now I will show you the quilt.  I am soo pleased with it.  Now it is not finished of course as I need to square it up and then bind it yet, but I just thought I'd give you a quick peek at the quilting.  It is simple (and I am hoping simple enough to please my niece!) and yet adds just the perfect feel I think.  The lighting isn't good, and it has been taken with my I-phone, but you will get the idea.  When it is officially done, I will drag out my good camera and get a GOOD picture of it I promise.  But my very first quilt blanket is almost done....

MY HUBBY THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD WAY TO TAKE A PICTURE OF IT....I INTENDED TO CROP MY HEAD AND FEET OUT OF IT, LOL, BUT OH WELL...

THE BACK OF IT

SHOWS THE QUILTING PRETTY GOOD!
Ok, guess that's it for now.  On my list for today is either the sheets, or maybe the bed skirt.  Which ever one I settle on, lol.  It is just soo pretty here this morning I could easily be talked into sitting on the porch and enjoying the morning with a book and another cup of tea, but I will be disciplined and get to my work.  Hope you all ENJOY your days!

Blessings, Debbie

  5. I love the blanket and the quilt. I have never made either. Maybe someday when I get to retire I'll attempt a quilt.

Sounds like a great weekend to me.

  6. What a lovely quilt, I am so glad you didn't have a tummy ache. I do hope that it goes away.
I remember when for a while every time I ate out I would be so sick. That was not fun. Maybe you can go to your favorite place now and eat the things you love.
I really enjoy seeing the things you make.

  7. Hubby gets a A+ for the blanket he made. And, your quilt gets an A+ too. It's been a beautiful day here too but cold temps coming tomorrow and the remainder of the week. Ugh!

    Blessings for a good week!

  8. This post made me smile. Your quilts are so well done and so impressive. I opt for the time on the porch and the cup of tea, especially after all the creating you do.

  11. So glad that you were able to enjoy one of your favorite foods without consequence ... hopefully you'll be able to have it again some time.

I absolutely love the quilting on that cute little quilt! Too many times, machine quilters overquilt the quilts (in my humble opinion) so the quilting overshadows the pretty fabrics and quilt pattern ... this was just perfect!! It adds, not detracts from the sweet quilt you made! Is that white outer "border" your batting? What kind did you use - I'm curious.

Personally I love those ordinary weekends ... and yours sounds quite delightful ... just the right amount of busyness and relaxation.

  12. That quile is oone of my favorites of yours! Actually, the head and feet are a cute addition. :)

I was hoping San Diego would win too, and I've read such good things about P.Rivers, but maybe next year!

  14. Debbie, I absolutely love your quilt and for your "first" quilt, I can tell you are a natural. All those circles would drive me crazy; I couldn't machine quilt it anyway. Great job my friend. Love the first blanket too.
    You are so very talented!!!!
    Sending love your way.
