WEEK-END WRAP UP

Well it's pretty early Monday morning and I have a busy day ahead so this will hopefully be quick...though not sure if any of my posts are ever that, lol.

The week-end was nice but quick.  In fact, it seems as if that's just how time is in general anymore...quick.  Friday night hubby got home early (after a super busy week for him) and we had one of our favorite kind of nights. We call it whalloring, lol.  Basically he bbq'd some nice steaks, I made up a scrumptious salad and corn on the cob, and then got into pj's and we hit our couch under our afghans for a little TV.  We recorded the Olympic opening to watch later (just can't seem to abide commercials anymore) and watched instead our recorded episodes of American Idol.  Both hubby and I enjoy this show, and this year the judging seems to be much better.  No body is standing out though for either one of us so far yet.  I picked both Carrie Underwood and Scotty McCreery from their first auditions though, lol.   I think we were both snoring by shortly after 9.

Sat. morning hubby left early to go and help Jessie's hubby finish up wallpapering the nursery for their coming baby, and I hit the sewing machine.  I have moved onto to bibs now.  If I think the burp cloths are quick and easy, the bibs are even more so.  I downloaded free patterns off of the internet and use my scraps, so basically they all seem almost free.  I do use warm and natural on them, so they are more absorbent, and are keeping them kind of simple.  They are a little small to embroider, so I haven't done any of that, but I have done a little appliqueing of these too.  I was out of both snaps and Velcro however, so I didn't finish them completely, but I picked those up yesterday afternoon, so hopefully soon I will.  Both my daughter and my dil could use a few more bibs (their babies are both at prime drooling ages, lol) so I am going to make a few more up for them while I am at it.   Let me show you what I've made...

COLOR IS NOT REAL GOOD, BUT YOU GET THE IDEA, LOL

WANTED TO SHOW YOU A CLOSE UP OF ONE OF THEM SO THAT YOU CAN SEE THE NEAT TOP STITCH MY NEW MACHINE CAN DO...I LOVE IT!
Hubby got home around 1 and we decided to go and see a movie.  We chose Labor Day since we couldn't find Nebraska at a time that worked for us, and we both enjoyed it.  After the movie we hit a couple of stores so I could pick up some onesies for my two grandbabies and a top to embroider for Donatella for her upcoming birthday.  Then it was back home for another night very similar to the night before, lol  The menu was taco's however, and we did enjoy some of the Olympics. Wasn't long and we were both snoring again though.

Sunday found us down in San Diego at church, lunching with my son's family, and then hubby took me by Joannes on the way home.  There is a MUCH bigger one on our way home then the one by us and I just couldn't resist going.  There was soo much fiddly stuff I needed.  Snaps, velcro, thread, heat and bond, needles, and warm and natural just name a little bit of it.  But of course I had to carouse the fabric too.  I feel like I know it all by heart, but hey, you never know they might have something new, lol.  I did find some sponge bob flannel for Cody (his favorite) and some St. Patty's Day fabric to make up something cute for Luke (more on that later).  After that we headed home and enjoyed ANOTHER night comfy in front of the TV.

This week I need to concentrate on getting Donatella's gifts together for her birthday party next Sunday.  She is our Valentine's baby and I can't believe she is already 5!  How could that be?  I am making her a pair of little red legging pants with little white hearts, and embroidering her a top to go with them.  I also am going to make her a pair of Tinkerbell jammies.  I want to her find her some little shoes and hopefully a bow for her hair as well.  OH! and a few little pairs of ear rings for her soon to be pierced ears.  It is what she has chosen for her birthday this year.  So guess I'd better get off of this computer and get to cracking.  Hope you all have a GOOD week!

Blessings, Debbie

Of course I have to leave you with a few pics of the grands...Sorry, I never can resist.

  5. I always admire the creative talents of people that sew, crochet, knit, etc. They're art forms I never learned.

Enjoy those cutie pie grands & the opportunities the Lord brings your way this week.

    Blessings,

  6. I LOVED that California palm tree. I used to hide things in the funny bark like pockets of our palm tree when I was a kid. I always love your photos and the kids and their kids are so beautiful.

  10. I never get tired of your grandkid pictures. I think of them as your personal signature at the end of a post. Don't ever stop.

I'm ashamed to admit that I have not heard of either movie that you named. I must be completely out of the loop these days. The fact is that TV bugs me so much that I rarely turn ours on anymore.

I know that I tell you this often, but I am telling you again that you are such a master seamstress. Do you know what those "nearly free to you" bibs and burp pads cost in the store? A pretty penny!

  11. Love those bibs ... and those cuties of yours! I've not heard anything about either one of those movies ... I need to research them. As soon as I get this sent, I'm going to go spend some time with my needle and thread! ;-)

  12. Keep enjoying those grands. Since we have started streaming most of our TV we can't hardly do commercials either. We have an antenna for local TV but watch very little. Now that Olympics are on and we have been watching more TV, we have been reminded why we like streaming (no commercials)
Enjoy the rest of the week.
