THE SHOWER...

Well it is almost 4 o'clock on Monday afternoon, and I have some time so I went through some of the pictures and thought I would put up a post on the shower.  Melody and Mike and the boys left here about 10 am this morning to go and spend the whole day with Mike's family, so I have cleaned things up a bit (goodness two little ones in the house means LOTS of extra chores... you do forget, lol) and did some laundry and just generally rested up some.  But I have about caught up so I went through the pictures.  But before I do that, let me tell you a little bit about how it's gone.  First of all, thank you for all that prayed that their trip here would go smoothly, as the Lord sure blessed that prayer.  The boys both fell asleep shortly after they left and SLEPT THE ENTIRE NIGHT until almost 6 o'clock the next morning.  It just doesn't get any better than that.  By the time they stopped at 6 to get gas, use the restroom, nurse the baby and get Sam set up with some fruit and milk, they were only a couple of hours away.  Now Mike of course didn't sleep at all, and Melody had a rough time of it as well as she really couldn't get comfortable, though she did manage to get some.  Friday Mike went to bed for a few hours and Melody rested as best she could, but the boys were rested and in good moods.  Grandpa and I thoroughly enjoyed them.  We all went to bed that night pretty early though as we knew the next day would be a LONG one.  Sat morning we had a nice breakfast and enjoyed the boys for a while and then began getting ready.  Everything was going well when Melody went to slip her new dress on only to discover that the dress they had packed in her bag was the WRONG size.  She had originally tried on a medium which was WAY too big (Mel is a very slight girl).  But the manikin was wearing an extra small so they took it off of her and Mel tried it on, and it was perfect!  But somehow when she left they gave her the medium after all.  An honest mistake I am sure, but now here she was with just a few minutes till we needed to leave and the ONLY dress she had with her was WAY WAY too big.  She did begin to panic I won't lie.  I would have jumped on the bandwagon with her, but I knew it would only push her over further, and wouldn't solve a thing.  Somehow I managed to cut 3 full inches off of the bottom of the dress and hem it up another inch and half to get the length alright and then pinned her literally into the dress, lol.  It was pinned to her bra, the shoulders, etc. but the end result was it looked pretty good. lol  Honestly, I don't think anyone would have ever known.  I guess at the end of the day it was the old it is what it is, but it did get us both kind of upset and we hadn't even left.   So then we loaded (behind our scheduled time now) all of our gear (and there was soo much!) and we left.  We had to take two cars.  Not only because there was so much stuff, but because my dil Leah and my granddaughter Lindsey needed a ride to the shower, and they were coming along to help us set things up as was my hubby, and we had Luke as well.  Mike was staying behind with Sam.  I won't go step by step through all the issues we had what with traffic, it being WAY farther then we thought to pick up the cupcakes, all of the issues getting the clotheslines hung, the center pieces put together, and only 1 short hour to get it done etc. etc., and skip to the part where I tell you we made it and it was PERFECT, lol.  Honestly, it all looked soo nice, the food was fantastic, the party went soo well, and Jessica was soo blessed.  The game we played was lots of fun, and she got soo many nice things.  Now I had my good camera all charged and ready to go and left it at home, (another stress, lol) HOWEVER, my hubby did go around and take pictures of things before people got there with his phone for me or there wouldn't have been any at all.  He didn't get pictures of the center pieces and the tables (didn't occur to him, lol) so there are no pictures of that, and honestly once things got going getting pictures was the last thing on my mind. But I do have a picture of the little mason jars we used and the ribbon I tied on them, and we simple had daisy's and baby's breath in them, so they weren't that big of a deal anyway.  So let me show you what pictures I did get....Let me just say this too, I tried and tried to get these in a better order, but just had one issue after another, so again, it is what it is.  Plus, some of them are blurry and they are aren't all that good.  Forgetting my camera was a bigger deal than I thought....sigh.  Again, oh well...

I guess I would be lying if I said I wasn't kind of disappointed with these pictures.  But I guess at the end of the day the memories we all made that day will live on in our minds just fine.  I am grateful that it all went well, the weather was perfect, and baby Weston will arrive in our family well loved and ready to leave his mark in this family too.

Our family was able to gather for pizza and conversation after the shower, and I was grateful for that time too.  I hope to get around and catch up some if I can, but not sure how much I will get done.  Hear that dryer buzzing again.  I've missed you, but these next couple of days will whiz by and I want to savor every minute I can with these grands.  Blessings to you all!  Debbie

  1. Everything looks wonderful! And Melody's dress is super cute -- good job saving the day with your sewing skills! It makes me glad I have at least some modest sewing abilities, with 2 daughters I'm sure I will have my share of wardrobe emergencies once they are teenagers and care a bit more about their clothes!

  3. It looks like it was a lovely shower, Debbie.
I sure couldn't tell that Melody's dress had been altered at all. I love the way you had so many of the gifts displayed instead of hidden in wrapping paper!
