WEEK-END WRAP UP...

Well it's a little overcast here this morning, but those birds are sure singing like it doesn't bother them one little bit, lol.  I am with them, doesn't bother me either.  We had a nice (but quick as always) week-end.  Hubby and I relaxed on Sat. morning and then when out for a nice lunch at our favorite restaurant. For those of you who might be interested, lol, I have figured out a way to eat my favorite sushi without having it bother my tummy.  I simply order the salmon roll I love, and then I only eat half of it (hubby gladly helps me out with the rest).  It does have the artificial crab in it so I have found that if I eat the WHOLE thing I can count on not feeling well later, but for some reason half of it and I seem to be fine. Weird I know...but it works so I am all over it.  It was soo yummy.  After lunch we ran a couple of quick errands and hurried back to our house as my sister Diane was coming over so that I could help her with the rag quilt she is making for her granddaughter's coming birthday. She is such a busy lady I am not sure how she ever found the time to do as much on the quilt as she already had.  She had all the squares cut out and sewn together and the quilt ready to assemble.  I have learned a couple of tips along the way that I wanted to show her so it would go faster for her as she needs to have it done by this Friday.  We got busy on it and quickly had a system down that was working well for us, so we just kept at it until it was completely together.  She wanted some embroidery on it as well and I don't have to be convinced too hard to do it, so I gladly put "Jesus loves Jackie" on one of the squares.  Soo cute!  However, when we were about 3/4 of the way through it, my machine suddenly wasn't working right.  I did all the usual things to try and make it work (including just shutting it off and starting it back up ~ kind of like re-booting a computer) and it still wasn't working right.  So we dug out my old one and got it done.  The old work horse machine that runs no matter what.  It did take me a little bit to re-adjust to the old one, but soon it was like I had never stopped using it.  Taking my new one in to be looked at is on the list for this morning....sigh. Hope it's nothing big.  Goodness knows I have used the thing to death but I am thinking it is just needs a computer adjustment of some sort.  I also finished up the bumper pads on Friday, so honestly between that and Sat. my neck was SUPER sore yesterday so I am considering taking at least 3 or 4 days completely off.   My sister ended up spending the night (we finished up later than she thought and there was fog on the mountain where she lives) and after breakfast on Sunday headed home as we were leaving for San Diego and church.   She still needs to do ALL of the clipping for the rag quilt, and the washing and fluffing, but hopefully she will easily get that done before Friday.  Here is a peek at the darling quilt...

BAD LIGHTING, KIND OF BLURRY, BUT HEY, IT WAS ALMOST 10, LOL SOO CUTE  HUBBY WAS HOLDING IT UP FOR US AND HE IS 6 FT. 2 SO YOU CAN GET AN IDEA HOW LONG IT WAS.  OH, AND THE PRINT (SO BLURRY YOU CAN'T TELL...SORRY) IS OWLS WHICH IS JACKIE'S FAVORITE THING.  BUT THIS WAS EVEN MORE SPECIAL AS MOM PICKED THIS FABRIC OUT WITH MY SISTER ON THEIR LAST SHOPPING TRIP TOGETHER BEFORE MOM PASSED AWAY...

FINISHED PADS....MY DIL LOVED THEM  I AM ANXIOUS TO GET A PICTURE OF THEM ON THE CRIB!
Service on Sunday was REALLY good, and afterwards we all enjoyed lunch out at one of my favorite Mexican restaurants.  A little grocery shopping on the way home finished off our week-end.  Oh, I forgot to mention that we did get some new Impatience planted out front on Sat. too, so spring time is coming to Fern Lake Ave.  Next week-end we are hoping to get the pots on the porch repainted and some of the palms clipped back.  The seasons just keep coming quicker and quicker.

Guess that's it for now.  I have to share a couple of grandkid pics.  Sorry, I never can resist.  Hope you all have a wonderful week!  Blessings to you all!  Debbie

SAM AND LUKE....GETTING SOO BIG...HOW DARLING ARE THEY? I COULDN'T BELIEVE SHE GOT SUCH A GOOD PICTURE WITH THEM BOTH LOOKING AND SMILING AND SITTING STILL AT THE SAME TIME!  LOL
HAPPY 19TH BIRTHDAY TO MY OLDEST GRANDSON, EVAN!

  1. That quilt is very cute....great fabric choices and How special to know the rest of the story. Hope that it's no big deal to have the machine fixed. Would it be wrong of me to hope that they must keep it for four days? LOL ! All of your grandsons are handsome guys.

  2. You just have the most adorable grands! Of course, they're not quite as adorable as MINE, but close. ha!

I love that quilt ... what a sweet story behind it. That should be included in the label ... for everyone to realize the significance of that fabric.

Good luck with your sewing machine ... and more importantly, your neck!

  3. Happy Monday to you!!! I love visiting you; however, want to share a warning with you-check out the ingredients of artificial crab because, if I'm not mistaken, I've been told it has gluten in it-which is probably why you do better with only eating half of your Ca. roll.
They are so small though, don't know how you can only eat 1/2 of one. You will certainly fade away to nothing. Love the quilt. Your Sam and Luke look so much alike and both are getting so big.
Have a great day my friend.
    Hugs, Noreen

  7. I really love the quilt colors Debbie, beautiful!! And as always, so are your adorable grandkids.

It's a good thing it isn't me trying to work that machine. I think you need a degree to figure it all out. You are a sewing engineer! :)

  8. That quilt will always hold a special memory because of the fabric. I am amazed that you gals were able to get so much done so quickly. The colors remind me of springtime.

  10. You and Diane are two busy ladies, and gifted too! I think it is wonderful that you get to spent time together making this quilt. It will certainly have wonderful memories especially since your Mom helped with picking out the fabric. I hope the e-machine's repair is minor.
The photo of Sam and Luke is perfect for framing, they both remind me of our two sons, when they were young. Sam will certainly be a big help to Luke.
Wishing Evan a very Happy Birthday , he is so handsome. Enjoy your week and rest,
    Hugs,
    Sue
