A STORY ABOUT MY HERO, AND MY SEWING PROJECTS!

Well I have had a busy last few days, but I am feeling pretty productive so I guess it's OK, lol.  Yesterday I left the house at 9:20 and didn't get back until almost 4:30.  I got my hair done, had lunch with my younger sister Danae and picked up 10 bags of clothes for my dil Leah.  Danae had gone through her closet and got rid of everything in a particular size she felt she'd never see again, and decided to give it all to my dil!  My dil is soo giddy over her windfall she hardly knows how to act, haha.  From there I went out to pick up some of my vitamins and supplements and here is where the day took a nose dive.  I got lost!  I missed my off ramp on the freeway somehow, and before I knew it I was going So. on a freeway I KNEW I didn't want to be on.  Thank goodness my hubby knows pretty much every square inch of EVERY California freeway or I might still be out there.  Now I do have a GPS on my car phone, but I didn't even know the address to tell them where I wanted to go.  I called my hubby on the car phone and he knew exactly where I was and also that it is a very tricky area where several freeways and off ramps run together.  Somehow or another he got me going back the right way, looked up the address of where I wanted to be, and I managed to memorize it (no little feat, lol) and called my on-star GPS and got some directions.  It turned out taking me a solid hour getting there, and it should have been about 20 minutes! Then, I had two more stops at a couple of fabric stores (which I don't need to tell you why I needed to go to two except for it was ANOTHER bone headed mistake by me) and finally came driving back home after that.  I was beat let me tell you.  How on earth my husband has traveled those freeways EVERYWHERE for the last 35 years I honestly have no idea!  But my admiration for him went up even higher!  Not to mention I was soo grateful he got me going where I needed to go.  Definitely my hero yesterday that's for sure!  Today I FINALLY headed to my sewing machine.  I wanted to get some coasters done that have been sitting on my sewing table for a good 3 weeks now.  I keep a set in both the living room and the family room, and I like to have my "seasonal" ones by my comfy chair in the living room.  I have a set of Fall, Christmas, Easter, St. Patricks Day, Valentines Day, and that left only 4th of July!  lol  So I made up a set of those.  Then I did all the cutting out for Leah's runner, and put together one of the blocks.  Suddenly it was almost 5 and the day was over.  Tomorrow my sister Diane and I are going to go on a quilt run.  You quilters no doubt know exactly what those are, but I sure didn't.  I am soo looking forward to that.  Hope you all had a good week, and fill with your week-ends with joy.  Blessings to you all, Debbie

SET OF 4....Kim, I mailed yours this afternoon, hopefully you get them soon!

THE BACK IS A SOLID SQUARE

THE FRONT IS TWO COORDINATING FABRICS FOLDED TOGETHER, AND THERE IS A LAYER OF WARM AND NATURAL IN THE CENTER TO ABSORB MOISTURE.

LOVE HOW THEY LOOKED STACKED

MY SET OF 4 FOR WHEN IT'S NOTHING SPECIAL, LOL.  I HAVE A SET OF THESE FOR BOTH ROOMS.  I MADE THESE OUT OF THE FABRIC USED TO MAKE OUTDOOR FURNITURE OR JUST UPHOLSTERY  (the name of it is eluding me right now for some reason)  IT DOES MAKE THESE A LITTLE STRONGER AND ABLE TO BE USED MORE OFTEN.  LITTLE HARDER TO WORK WITH BECAUSE THEY ARE KIND OF THICK, BUT STILL LOVE THEM.  THEY ALL CAN BE THROWN IN THE WASHER AND DRYER TOO BTW.

THE FRONT

THE BACK

THE SQUARE FOR LEAH'S RUNNER.  IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS NOT SQUARE BUT IT IS THE WAY THE PICTURE IS TAKEN, NOT THE BLOCK, LOL.  HOWEVER DON'T LOOK TOO CLOSELY AT MY PINWHEELS YOU EXPERIENCED QUILTERS AS THESE ARE NOT VERY GOOD.  MY FIRST ATTEMPT EVER.  HARDER THEN I THOUGHT (like most of quilting!) THE REST OF IT IS A DISAPPEARING 9 PATCH

  1. My heart felt for your day lost of the freeways! I have a terrible sense of direction, and absolutely hate to go out in areas that I am not familiar with. Glad your hubby got you back on track. I have had to call my husband more than once for the same thing! How fun to go on a quilt run! Which shops? Love your coasters! Love the block for the runner! You are well on your way !!!

  2. I can't even imagine driving on those freeways and you do it all of the time. I am so glad your hubby knew how to get you home.
I love your coasters and pinwheels just are so hard for me too.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.

  3. I'm so glad that your hubby got you where you needed to go!

I wonder if a quilt run is what we call a shop hop ... where you go from quilt shop to quilt shop as part of a planned event ... with each shop offering prizes, bargains, etc. I hope you have a great time ... and I look forward to hearing all about it.

Love those coasters ... what did you use for batting?

  5. Oh my goodness,...the freeway story grabbed my attention! I live in rural Nova Scotia so not too many ramps to get lost on! Love your little coasters, and the block for the runner is gorgeous. Well done!

  6. Love the coasters! That's how I make some of my potholders. I would come unglued on a freeway like that. They'd find me in the breakdown lane strumming my lips. Yikes!

Thank you for the coasters! I can't wait to get them and use them. They are so cute.
Oh, I just get scared thinking about driving in the kind of traffic you drive all the time. I am definitely a country girl. I sure admire your husband too. Anyone who can navigate freeways is on the top of my list of BRAVE persons!
The runner is working up very nicely too-very pretty colours you chose.

  9. So glad your hero was able to help you. Mine is like that too. He very seldom ever gets lost and I've been known to call him when I've gotten lost.

    Love those coasters a lot!!
