MOVIE DATE AND FINISHED PROJECT

Here it is late Thursday afternoon already and I honestly can't believe it.  The week has just flown by.  I thought I'd do a "quick" little catch up as I know I won't have time in the morning.  I am soo enjoying this summer, and I hope you all are too.  Between my grandkids being out of school, and my sister Diane free as well (she is involved home schooling her grandchildren) I have had lots of company and plenty to keep me even busier then ever.  On Tues. morning I went and got my nails done and a pedi too.  It is always soo nice and relaxing. After that I ran by and picked up Jeffie and little Cody and we met my sister Diane and her grand daughters and had lunch and saw the movie How to Train Your Dragon.  It was really a good movie, but my biggest pleasure came from watching the boys enjoy it.  We hung out for a while afterwards so the kids could play a little bit, and then I brought the boys back to my house to hang out a little more.  We talked, watched a little TV, played hide and seek (yes, grandma got in on it, lol!) and just generally enjoyed ourselves.  It was their mama's late night at work, so she came by after work and picked them up on her way home.  Can't tell you how much I enjoyed them, but after 8 hours or so this grandma was ready to curl up on the couch and relax for a bit, lol.  I did get a couple of cute pictures.

LOVED THIS PICTURE!  SOO SWEET!

AT TEN JEFFIE IS GETTING SOO BIG!

WISH THIS WASN'T BLURRY AS WHO COULD RESIST THAT GRIN?  CODY IS DOING SOOO WELL!  SO GLAD HE IS ABLE TO JOIN JEFFIE AND I ON MOVIE DATES NOW

THEY WANTED ME TO GET A PICTURE OF TOOTHLESS IN THE PICTURE WITH THEM...PRETTY GOOD, LOL
MY GRANDSONS AND MY SISTERS GRAND DAUGHTERS
Wednesday I spent the whole day it seemed finishing up my dil's runner.  I did go ahead and make up a runner to to go with the topper.  In their dining room they have a large dining room table, and then another long table that serves as a buffet of sorts.  The topper is for the dining room table, and the runner for the long table.  I used the same fabrics, but did different patters.  I am having the topper professionally quilted, (should be done tomorrow) but I decided to quilt the runner myself.  I have not done a runner since the Christmas ones I did, and honestly my "quilting" on them wasn't very good.  But I have learned a lot and practiced a lot since then so I decided to try again even though I seriously was kind of scared.  I couldn't bear to ruin it after all the time it took me to put together.  It wasn't a difficult pattern by any means, but I did have a hard time with my points on my triangles.  I can tell it is just one of those things I will need to practice on until it isn't difficult anymore.  Anyway...as it turns out I am VERY pleased with how the quilting came out.  I did a simple stitch in the ditch around the squares and then used the decorative stitches on my machine for the rest of it.  Let me show you...

DON'T KNOW HOW WELL YOU CAN SEE THE QUILTING AND I USED MY GOOD CAMERA TOO...

BACKING
Today my sister Diane came over and we spent the day sewing together again.  I am soo enjoying my time doing this with her.  I was working on placemats I am making for Melody for her birthday, and she is working on an ABC quilt to hang in her classroom at home.  It is just going to be adorable.  If I knew anyone who had a need for one, I'd love to make one too.  Guess that's it for now.  I need to finish up our dinner.  Hope you all have a good week!  Blessings to you all!  Debbie

  3. I opened the photos in a new window and could see the beautiful stitches. Wow. You did a great job and I see nothing wrong with those points. They look like perfection to me!

The boys look so cute. Don't tell them that. They'd hate it. And thank you for the good movie recommendation, too.

  4. Great pictures of your grands. So glad to hear that you joined in with their hide and seek ... I enjoy playing hide and seek with my grands. That runner looks fabulous! Your triangles look fine to me ... no lopped off tips (that's usually what I have trouble with). And I love that striped border! I used a striped border for a quilt I made for my oldest granddaughter last summer and loved the look ... I need to find a nice stripe to add to a future quilt. Your quilting looks well done!
