FINISHED QUILT TOP AND WEEK-END PLANS

It's late Friday afternoon and truthfully I am downright beat right now, lol.  I feel like I have become way too obsessive on my sewing as I find myself working at fever pitch, but I can't seem to find reasons why I shouldn't be.  I take breaks when I need to so I can rest my back and neck some, and try REALLY hard not to neglect any of my other responsibilities, and so I guess I will just press on for now.  I have finished my 3rd Christmas quilt.  This one is quite small and I have made it to be a wall hanging.  I am thinking it will fit quite well over the buffet in my dining room.  But right now I am actually too tired to pick it up and hold it there to see, but I am a pretty good judge of space so I think it will be a go.  I am really, REALLY anxious to get this one quilted, as like I said I have seen it on the wall in the quilt shop and I LOVE LOVE the way it is done.  However, I have to say I changed it up some.  I really didn't care a lot for the way they had done the borders, and I didn't think I'd have enough room on the wall if I did it that way as well, so I just kind of made it up as I went along.  It is also smaller then any of the sizes listed on the pattern, but again, I knew I only had so much space. This would make a BEAUTIFUL full size quilt, but oh my the work that would go into it.  Now all I have left for me is a matching tree skirt.  To tell you the truth I wish I could find this fabric in charm packs as the thought of cutting out 81 squares right now makes me want to collapse, lol.  It is time for a couple day break that's for sure, lol.  I did run over to JoAnnes today as well though and found some fabric for the grandkids pillow cases, and some for their jammies, and ALL of the patterns I will need to make them.  Believe it or not the Christmas flannel is ALREADY looking kind of slim, and the Christmas fabric at the quilt shop by me is almost completely gone.  Guess I am not the only one who has gotten started.  Let me show you this quilt...

NOT BAD FOR USING MY I-PHONE...I WILL TAKE A PIC WITH MY GOOD CAMERA AFTER IT IS QUILTED.  I GUESS IT DOESN'T HELP THAT I LAY IT DOWN ON MY MULTI COLORED ROOM RUG AS WELL.  MAYBE I SHOULD STOP DOING THAT, LOL.  BUT YOU GET THE GENERAL IDEA.
We have a nice week-end coming up and hope you all do too,  Someone (not naming names, lol) is turning the big 60 this Sunday so I have a feeling there might be a celebration or two.  I don't know about the rest of you, but this gal celebrates the WHOLE week-end long, lol.

On Monday my brother in law will have open heart surgery so I will spend the day sitting with my sister at the hospital while it is being done.  I would appreciate any prayers you might have for his safe surgery, and for a quick and painless as possible recovery.  The surgery should totally correct any problem he has been having, so I guess that's a good thing,  Praise God that they are able to do such things.  Blessings and simply joys to you all!  Debbie

Hubby held the quilt up for me, and it fits there PERFECTLY....Looks like I measured to have it fit, lol,  They don't call me old dead eye for nothing!

  4. Debbie, I wish you'd bottle some of that energy and skill for piecing-I could use both. I can't believe how many quilts as well as baby clothes you've made-wow is all I can say. I love your header too-keep meaning to tell you that it inspires me. That quilt will be just perfect. Not sure if it is your birthday or hubby's-but birthday Blessings to the birthday person.
    Hugs, Noreen

  5. Debbie, that quilt is GORGEOUS! I LOVE it!!! You know, if you shop online, you might find some charm packs in you fabric line ... www.fatquartershop.com and Missouri Star Quilts carry a lot of precuts.

I don't have any advice for you regarding your "obsession" about sewing ... I'm just as guilty. And frankly, I don't know that it's a bad thing, provided my household and my family aren't ignored because I'm quilting. ;-) After all, everyone needs a hobby, and with sewing or quilting, we are blessed with something tangible to use or share. We have something to show (and to use) for our time and effort. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Happy, happy birthday, my friend! Someone told me, when I turned 60, that 60 is the new 40 ... so enjoy your 40's! ;-)
