THURSDAY'S TIDBITS

Well it's Thursday afternoon and Diane has just left and her quilt is officially finished!  It honestly came out soo cute I could hardly stand it.  I did talk her into doing the binding in a scrappy look using the fabrics that were used in the quilt cut into six by 2 and half inch rectangles, and honestly it came out even better then I hoped.  It really didn't take that long to cut and put them together either.  We made quick work of squaring up the quilt (again, easier with 2!) and then getting the binding attached to the quilt.  It took the longest to hand sew the back of it on, but it just looked nicer then I knew it would done by machine, and was worth the extra time.  I am as excited as she is to see it on her wall. Here's a picture of the finished project.

SOO DARLING!
TRIED TO GET A CLOSE UP OF THE BINDING, AND THERE'S MY PHONE STRAP IN THE PICTURE...SIGH, I DO TRY, LOL

ANOTHER VIEW
And then between yesterday morning and this morning before Diane got here I whipped together a pair of jammies for Sam as part of his birthday gift.  I tried a new pattern as I usually make the kind that button down the front, but these were quicker and easier, and will be good if I can find some cute festive holiday knits to use as well.  I am hoping they fit him, as it is really kind of a guess.  Anyway, here they are

LOVED THE FABRIC!
My trip to the dentist went well, but we will see.  Bottom line?  For now?  The  new crown just needed a little adjusting,  So he drilled around on it a bit so that it works with my bite better and it seems to be OK.  As for my original (and only) root canal, he think's it too looks really good.  The bite from the new crown was affecting it so he drilled around on it some and thinks it will all be OK now. The only other thing that could be done there is to simply pull the tooth.  I almost wish I had just done that in the beginning in some ways.  It is my bottom molar clear to the back.  Don't really need it anyway, and would never be seen where it is at anyway.  Could have saved myself LOTS of money, and plenty of headaches.  But hindsight is also good huh?

I am going to start on a new Christmas quilt tomorrow.  I am excited about it.  It is done with a jelly roll and looks quick and simple, yet soo pretty.  There is one made up in the new shop, and I just couldn't resist.  Diane is going to make one too, so that should be fun.

That's it for now.  Hope you all had a good week, and are looking forward to a relaxing week-end!

Blessings to you all!  Debbie

  6. Yes, my first opinion still stands - the quilt could not be cuter and more appropriate for Dianne's classroom. What a great inherited item for her student granddaughter. Those little pjs look so snugly warm and comfy. Love how you just whip up these little projects.

  8. Debbie, Sam's pj's look so professional, I bet they are sown so much better. working on quilting or sewing projects with someone else is so much more fun and quicker. This kind of reminds me of quilting bees we used to have when I was a little girl ! This one is beautiful! I am sorry I haven't been around this summer but we have been so busy, I am thankful things are slowing down for now.
I too had a root canal this summer and it too was very expensive, but am thankful all went well, I am glad to hear yours is all fixed.
I feel as though I have missed so much this summer, so I hope all is well, you certainly have been a busy lady too, looking forward to seeing the christmas quilt, can you believe that Christmas is just around the corner?
    Enjoy your weekend,
    Hugs,
    Sue
