A RUN AWAY WEEK...

My goodness can it possibly be THURSDAY afternoon, close to 5 o'clock already?  Where are on earth has this week gone?  I have gotten a few things done but everything has taken a little longer then I intended.  Let me start with I got the quilt for the wedding present back.  Let me just say I have been sweating over this quilt.  I guess because I intended it to be a gift for a young modern type couple, and of course I wanted it to be really good (not only to please them but so as to not be embarrassed).  You know?  And considering it was really only the second quilt I'd ever made, and how quickly I found myself in over my head, I was afraid it was not going to come out well at all, let alone actually good .  And if it wasn't at least "close enough" to good, I couldn't give it.  I mean, you can expect family to enjoy a quilt that was made for them even if it was not "perfect" or had several flaws or whatever, but not a couple that honestly I don't know really well on a personal level.  And then what was I going to DO with it?  It was not colors or styles anyone I know would have chosen. Anyway, all I can say is I LOVE IT!!  I quickly put the binding on (if 3 and half hours is quick, lol) The quilter did an amazing job with it, and most (if not all) of my little "problems" are no longer even visible.  I have decided I will never sweat out little imperfections again, as the quilting covers a multitude of sins.  Let me show it to you....

YOU CAN KIND OF SEE THE QUILTING IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY

YOU CAN SEE IT BETTER HERE

YOU  CAN SEE IT HERE AND THE BINDING I CHOSE,,,
I am really anxious now to get back my Christmas ferry quilt which I should get on Monday. Hopefully she has whipped up some magic on it too and I might actually begin to like it, lol.  Then I spent HOURS (yes hours!) yesterday making the Christmas pillow case for my grandson Cody.  It was from a kit I got at the fabric store.  The pillowcase whipped together quickly, but the applique was just a nightmare,  I will not go into detail over what went wrong.  Let's just say that if it could go wrong it did.  Most of the applique work I have done has been done via my embroidery attachment, and this one was fiddly and just not my cup of tea.  It came out darling, but I will NOT be making another one of these, lol.  Let me show you,.

LOOKS SIMPLE ENOUGH RIGHT?  LOL

And then Diane came over today and we worked on her quilt.  It's coming right along and won't be long now and she will have it all together.  I am loving it.  And after she left I put together Capri's pillowcase.  I embroidered on hers instead, and let me just say, 1000 times quicker and easier for this gal.  It's not perfectly centered, but it will do.  Let me show you....

CUTE FABRIC

LITTLE CLOSER LOOK.  I WANT TO REACH UP AND PULL IT DOWN SOME...(JUST HOW I AM) BUT I WOULD NEED TO HOOP IT DIFFERENTLY THEN I KNOW HOW TO DO SO.  I WILL KEEP TRYING TO GET IT BETTER.  BUT THIS IS CUTE ENOUGH

So guess that's it for now.  I went to the first women's Bible study of the new season last night, and it was good.  I am looking forward to digging back into a new study,  Hope all of your week's are going well, and that time for you is not racing nearly as fast.  Blessings to you all! Debbie

  1. That quilt is amazing! I know that they will love it! Zi really like the design the quilter chose and how it is repeated in the border. May I offer a suggestion for Capri's pillow? It is darling as is, but if you don't like it not centered I have a thought. The first pillow is adorable, too. Sorry it was such a bear!

  4. It's amazing how with a little time and distance, all the flaws and imperfections seem to become a lot less noticeable (when we're piecing/working on a quilt, we see every single imperfection up close and personal!). Besides, I'll bet you that this couple wouldn't know what you or I would consider an imperfection. So sweating over those little imperfections is an exercise in futility! ;-) However, let me tell you That the quilt is GORGEOUS! I'm like you, it's not colors or a style I'd choose, but it's fabulous! I just love it! And the quilting? Perfect! Absolutely fabulous!

    Love those pillow cases, too!

  5. The quilt is beautiful! And I do love that angel fabric. It is so cheery and sweet. AND, love that fall header. I just wish fall were a tad longer - like maybe 3 months longer. :-)

  8. Hi sweet friend, Girl your quilter did an amazing job with an amazing quilt. Love it!!! I know the couple will be so pleased with it. Your description of how you fretted over it,while making it, reminded me of how I fretted over Mel's baby quilt. Love the pillowcases-such fun. Hope you have a fantastic weekend.

  12. And once again, I am sitting here impressed at the work of your hands.

I sort of giggled at the part about not wanting to be embarrassed to give it because I am exactly that way about things. In fact, it's the reason that I don't refinish furniture for other people. I'm too nitpicky. I also loved how you said that quilting covers a multitude of mistakes. I think there is a life lesson in there somewhere.
