I haven't written a Thankful Thursday post in ever so long and is LONG overdue, so I decided to jump right in this morning and get it done.  One thing I have managed to learn over the years is that a thankful heart IS a happy heart.  And I try my best to remember that and keep my focus and heart centered on the many blessings that are all around us. Sooo let's see.  Should I go with the big or the small or a combination of both?  lol  I think I will concentrate on just this day.

Today I am thankful for this BEAUTIFUL weather we've been enjoying this week.  Just about perfect in my opinion.  Cool brisk mornings, and warm sunny afternoons.  I am sitting here in my chair by the window with it wide open while a breeze that is brisk enough to make me drape my quilt over my lap sifts through.  Now some most  people I know would probably think it's TOO cool and would close that window, but it is honestly one of my favorite times of day and I love listening to the birds sing to each other all around me.  I even love to have my legs and feet covered in my quilt while I sit typing on my laptop sipping my tea.  The window in our bedroom has not been shut once since I finally turned off the air conditioning in late Oct.  Even when it rained.  I love hearing it (soo rare anyway!) and I REALLY love snuggling under the comforter with my nose nice and cold when we sleep.  And oh, how grateful I am that my husband likes it this way too!  Which brings me to my hubby, and how grateful I am for him.  I was thinking that yesterday afternoon again.  How grateful I am for his presence in my life right now.  Someone who shares my everyday ups and downs and whose mind and heart so mirror my own.  Is as eager to discuss our kids, our grandkids, and our simple pleasures as much as I am.  I am a very spoiled woman I have to say and at times I wonder how in the world I have ended up so blessed in this department, but I just am.  I never want to take that for granted.  Then of course there are my kids and my grandkids, but surely that goes without saying.  So I will get a little more specific.  My middle son was laid off from his job last Wednesday. The Company that he worked for has been struggling for quite a while so it didn't come as a total shock, but still it wasn't exactly good news.  However, as of yesterday afternoon, he has offers from 3 different places to chose from!  How grateful we all are!  We gave our opinions and advice over the phone last night as he shared the different possibilities, and then prayed with him that he might make the right decision for his future.  And then, I am so grateful that my daughter is being blessed with a little girl.  Now she is already a VERY blessed woman and a third little boy would have been just as loved I am very sure, but I am grateful that she is getting the desire of her heart just as I did 28 years ago when she was born. There's nothing quite like your kids being happy that brings joy to your heart is there?  Which makes me see how our happiness and joy is soo important to our heavenly Father as well.  Hard sometimes to wrap our heads around the fact He loves us with a much greater and more perfect love then we could ever love our own children.  How grateful I am for that!  And for His presence in my life that always brings me peace and comfort.  I have a feeling I could go on and on but I will stop here.  I am meeting my sister Diane today at Hobby Lobby for a little fabric shopping and lunch.  Soo grateful for those days and times with her too.  So guess that's it for now.  Hope you all have a good day and look for those blessings that bring you joy!  Debbie

You can join the others HERE who are sharing their grateful hearts too!

  1. There is nothing quite like thinking about your blessings and thanking God to help change your attitude. My attitude was pretty stinky earlier this morning. But giving thanks and reading other's thankful posts and reading scripture and praying, has turned it around for me.

  2. A thankful heart is a happy heart... love that so much :)
