A MOTHER'S DAY WEEK-END WRAP UP....

Well I hope all you mom's out there had a nice Mother's Day.  I sure did!  Or I guess you could call it a Mother's Day week-end, lol.  It started Friday afternoon.  My middle son is working very close to us now, and so he took me out to lunch.  We met at a wonderful Mexican restaurant near here and had a long leisurely lunch and visit.  I think I have mentioned before that sometimes this is just the way I like best to "visit" with my kids.  On a one on one way basis....It just works soo well for getting that time to REALLY catch up and visit individually.  Not a lot of opportunity for that when you come from a big family.  We decided to try and do this at least once a month since he is working so close. Sure will work for me.  And then Sat. morning after a couple of quick errands we headed down to San Diego.  My youngest son and his wife were participating in a "wipeout" race and so we were asked to baby sit with their 4 while they did.  Their other grandparents usually do the baby sitting as they only live about 5 minutes from them, but they had other plans so we gladly filled in.  I took the opportunity to take the two girls to see Cinderella.  Oh my how darling that movie is!  We all loved it!!  "The dress" is soo spectacular!  I recently read that the dress had over 250 yards of fabric in it! That's a lot of fabric, lol!  On the way home I took the opportunity to discuss with the girls what they thought made Cinderella SOO beautiful.  Tella was sure it was the shoes, lol.  "They were SOO pretty grandma!" Capri was convinced, "it was the dress!"  and they both agreed "maybe it was her makeup!"  But I said, "the thing that made her SOO beautiful was her kindness.  That's why everyone loved her!" Tella especially thought  on this for a minute and said, "And that's why her step mom was ugly!"  "She was soo mean!"  lol.  I assured them that was exactly right. We snacked on popcorn and the girls had icie drinks too.  Meanwhile Grandpa put Vinny down for a LONG nap, and he and JD played football in the street out front to their hearts content. Vinny was just waking up when us girls got back and they were home shortly after that.  They then made us a WONDERFUL dinner to celebrate Mother's Day.  We had tri-tip, sweet potatoes and a wonderful salad.  It was sooo good! We visited the rest of the evening away with them and then headed home.  It was a REALLY good day. And then, yesterday my day started with little video's from Sam and Luke.  How I LOVE getting video's.  The technology we have today at our finger tips makes long distance family SOO much more bearable.  I responded with a video back of Copper the dog talking, and Melody was glad to get a new one to show them.  They had watched the other one to pieces. lol. We didn't want to make another trip down to San Diego to go to church so we watched our old pastor online. Fabulous as always. Around 2 we headed over to my oldest son's house for an early dinner.  OH MY GOODNESS!  I am pretty sure I have raved before about how good of a cook my DIL Leah and her mother are, but it bears repeating AGAIN.  They had made home made enchiladas, carnitas, beans, rice, and chips and salsa.  It was SOOO good.  I did eat a bit more then I should have, but it was just too good to pass up.  I brought strawberry shortcake for dessert, so we really had a feast.  We sat outside after that and soaked up the wonderful, GORGEOUS spring afternoon and early evening.  We visited with all of them until we finally headed home around 7.  All in all a wonderful week-end with family.  I do have several pictures now to show you, but not really of the events themself.  Don't think I took any pictures at all, lol.

WHEN MY KIDS WERE GROWING UP I USED TO DISPLAY ALL OF THE CARDS THAT I RECEIVED FOR VARIOUS THINGS ON MY PIANO FOR SEVERAL DAYS.  THE BOYS TEASED ME ABOUT THIS HABIT, THOUGH SECRETLY I THINK THEY ALL ENJOYED HAVING "THEIR" CARDS UP THERE.  FOR MOTHER'S DAY THIS YEAR MY YOUNGEST SON GOT ME THIS GIANT CARD AND MADE THE REMARK, "AND I WANT TO SEE THIS ON THE PIANO".  SO YESTERDAY I SENT HIM THIS PIC OF HIS CARD ON DISPLAY FOR MY DAILY VIEWING, LOL.  THEY HAD ALL SIGNED AND DRAWN PICTURES AND DECORATED THE INSIDE OF IT.  I LOVED IT OF COURSE!

AND THEN MY OLDEST SON'S FAMILY MADE ME THIS HOME MADE CARD!  THEY KNOW ME WELL!
MY HANDSOME OLDEST SON HAD TO GO TO AN AWARDS DINNER ON FRIDAY NIGHT AND WEAR A TUX.  A RARE OCCURRENCE FOR HIM TO GET SOO DRESSED UP, BUT HE SURE LOOKS GOOD THIS MAMA IS THINKING!

JOE AND HIS BEAUTIFUL WIFE LEAH
AND OF COURSE SWEET CLAIRE

SPORTING HER ROMPER!

HER FAVORITE PASTIME....DOZING ON MAMA
And then somewhere in the end of the week last week I finished up the quilt for my daughter's friend.  It came out super cute I think, and I sure hope it blesses her.

I GOT THIS EMBROIDERY DONE.  AND A CLOSE UP OF THE "FRINGE".. IT  CAME OUT PRETTY GOOD EVEN WITH THE COTTONS

SOME MORE EMBROIDERY

AND HERE'S HOW THE SATIN LOOKS ON THE BACK

On Friday morning before I went to lunch with my son I decided to try out a new pattern that I had not had an opportunity to try for Claire.  I have SOOO much scrap and this calls for soo little I was able to make it up just out of what I had.  It came out super cute, and I am thinking it will be an adorable addition to her little wardrobe....I know, I know, she has A LOT but this grandma can't resist, and it's just fabric sitting there for no reason anyway, lol.  Let me show you....

ITS A LITTLE LAYERED SKIRT WITH ATTACHED BLOOMER PANTS!  SOO CUTE!

I also had some edged eyelet that I have cut out a little top for (had both the fabric and the pattern, so again practically FREE, lol) And I have enough of a few more coordinating fabrics so I might make up a couple more of these.  Quick and easy, and oh soo cute.  That's about all on my plate this week. I am still not 100% but it is all very workable.  I am REALLY wanting to say that there is no more pain or tinglings, but it is just not the case.  I am beginning to wonder just how long this might last.  I have both heard and read all the horror stories on this so I try not to let my mind go there.  What will it solve? Not a thing as I far as I can see.  I have done all I can do to get over this and there's not much left to try.  What will be will be.  But it sure doesn't stop me from petitioning my God.  We are contemplating making another "short" trip out to Melody's.  Over Memorial Day week-end.  I really want to see that new baby again before she moves totally out of this stage of her life, and it is almost little Luke's second birthday as well, so we could celebrate that with them too.  Seems like he was just born, and now he's almost two and little Claire has made her appearance as well.  These first few years in their lives go by soo quickly, and they change soo much.  I want to get in much as I can.  Hope you all have a WONDERFUL week.  We are having some truly spectacular weather here.  Even got in a nice rain last Thursday night and Friday, and there might be some more on the horizon.  Blessings to you all!  Debbie
