WEEK-END WRAP UP AND MONDAY'S WORK...

Well the Santa Ana winds have kicked up and it is windy and WARM here in So. California.  We are supposed to be in the low ninety's all week! Can't say that I am exactly perky over that, but it is the old it is what it is.  I am just hoping that I don't break down and turn on my air conditioner as I really want to avoid those HIGH electric bills this time of year especially.  So far I am doing just fine today. The only bright spot is that when the winds blow at this time of the year it still cools off pretty good at night so the house stays pretty cool til almost 2, and by then I've almost made it till sundown.   We had a good week-end.  Everything about the baptism went really well and I was very grateful.  I did have a MAJOR flare up with my legs [not sure why they do this every once in a while] but the muscles all down the back of both of my legs cramp up and tighten and hurt soo bad I could barely crawl around.  But I used my cane and just kept going.  Not much was going to stop me enjoying the joy of that day.  And they are back to normal [normal for me that is, lol] today so as flare ups go that wasn't too bad.  It was just a glorious day all the way around though, and we enjoyed and soaked in every moment.  Then yesterday was church and then a couple of quick errands, and then the super bowl.  Hubby and I decided to just stay home and enjoy it by ourselves, and I was glad we did as I did doze for a while during the first half too, lol.  It was a good game, and we were rooting for Peyton and the Colts, so that made for an even better game, lol.

Today I am kind of tired, [didn't sleep well with those legs either] and so I've taken it kind of slow today.  I got 2 bibs made though in spite of the hour snooze I took earlier this afternoon...wink...  I tried something new that I have been wanting to figure out ever since I got my machine almost two years ago.  There is sooo much that sits unused on my machine it is really just a shame, and I want to learn to utilize it all..  I took both of the 3 hour classes on how to use this machine but it covered just the basics.  I'd like to suggest that they have a beginning, intermediate, and advanced lesson on it so that you can learn it all.  I am pretty sure I can't be the only one who is clueless when it comes to some of it's functions.  ANYWAY...there is six different font alphabets on the decorative stitches. Not on the embroidery attachment, but on the regular sewing machine under decorative stitches. Anyway, I knew there was a way to write out a name or a saying, or really anything you wanted to write out that way, but I have never been able to figure it out.  I could only get a single letter at a time to work.  Now truthfully, the font is NOT very big anyway, and there is not a lot of call to write out anything that is as small as this comes out, and truthfully usually when I want to write something I simply use the embroidery attachment.  But a bib seemed like the perfect place to write a name in a small way and so I decided to REALLY work at it today and see if I couldn't get it to work.  And I did! Now truthfully it is not perfect but I was soo happy it worked at all I really don't care.  It doesn't look like any kind of a big deal, but I am anxious to continue playing with it as I know there is a way to switch out stitches too.  Like I should be able to have a rose and then a daisy and then a name and then back to a rose and daisy etc.  But that is still alluding me.  But anyway, let me show you the bibs and the stitches...

I LOVE THIS FABRIC FIRST OF ALL.  SOO SWEET.

I QUILTED THIS ONE WITH A WHITE DECORATIVE STITCH WHICH YOU CAN'T SEE VERY WELL.  THERE IS A PLAIN WHITE FLANNEL IN THE CENTER OF THIS SO THAT IT IS MORE ABSORBENT AS WELL, AND THE BACKING IS A SOFT AND COMFY FABRIC

LOVE THIS FABRIC TOO AND I USED A RED THREAD FOR THE QUILTING STITCH ON THIS ONE, AND A LARGE RIC RAC DOWN THE SEAM LINE THAT WAS LEFT OVER FROM KATIE'S APRON.

THERE'S A CLOSE UP OF HER NAME

HERE'S WHAT THE BACK'S LOOK LIKE, THOUGH IF YOU CAN'T FEEL AND KNOW HOW SUPER SOFT THIS IS, IT IS HARD TO APPRECIATE, LOL  I DO ALL OF THE QUILTING AND THE DECORATIVE SEWING ON THE FRONT ATTACHED TO THE IN BETWEEN FLANNEL PIECE BEFORE I ATTACH IT TO THE BACK, SO THE ONLY STITCH YOU SEE ON THE BACK IS THE EDGE STITCH.  JUST THINK IT'S BETTER THAT WAY.

Well that's about it for now.  I am hoping to finish up with the bibs, the burp cloths, and the one last blanket I have by Friday so that by next week I can switch modes a little bit and do some of the clothes I intend to make for both her and for Claire.  Claire's first birthday is only two months away and we hope to go out to New Mexico for it so Melody has purchased some fabric and sent it to me to make up a couple of things for her, and I have bought a couple of pieces of fabric as well.  I am going to make her a tutu to wear on her party day too.  LOTS and LOTS of sewing on my horizon.  Hope you are all doing well and have a good week full of His blessings!  Debbie
