SEWING PROJECTS AND EASTER CELEBRATIONS

Well we have had a wonderful LONG week-end, and a very blessed Easter day.  I will tell you about that after I catch you up on last week's sewing.  Friday hubby had the day off so we ran around that morning and got some errands done.  It was soo nice in essence having an extra day for this.  After a nice lunch out we headed home and that afternoon he worked on a few things which included getting all the snaps on the new bibs for Sophia, and getting one of the scripture pictures framed for me.  But I did something a little unusual and made something for ME, lol.  I've been wanting one of those purse cosmetic bags since I made those two for the shower prize gifts so I just decided to go ahead and give it a whirl.  I used a different pattern altogether as this one came with some applique, and I thought it was just darling.  It was a little bit more time consuming then I thought it might be, so I might not be making another one of these too soon.  Let me show you that first....

THIS WAS ANOTHER IN THE HOOP DESIGN SO THIS WHOLE THING WAS MADE IN THE HOOP.  THERE WERE TWO HOOPINGS INVOLVED, BUT STILL.  ALL OF THE QUILTING IS DONE FIRST, AND THEN THE APPLIQUE AND EMBROIDERY.  I LOVED THIS AND I HAVE ALREADY FILLED IT WITH MY COMPACT, MY LIPSTICK, AND A LITTLE HAND SANITIZER AND IT'S TAKEN UP ITS SPOT IN MY PURSE.

THE BACK
Also last week I made a little tutu skirt for Claire's first birthday.  Melody wanted the skirt on the full side, and in a pale, pale yellow with little bits of pale pink.  I watched several tutorials on this before I tried to make it, and honestly it was just as easy as it could be.  I kind of made up a matching bow out of some left over tulle, and I intend to embroider a little matching onesie for it today.  But let me show you the skirt and bow for now....

I USED A CROCHET HEAD BAND FOR THE WAIST BAND AND DID 3 ROWS OF TULLE FOR THE SKIRT.  WHEN I WAS FINISHED I TRIMMED IT UP AND PUT A YELLOW RIBBON ON THE FRONT.  I USED AN OATMEAL BOX TO HOLD THE SKIRT WHILE I WORKED ON IT AND IT WORKED AMAZINGLY WELL.

I also embroidered two scripture pictures to be famed and this project gave me a little bit of trouble as I started out using the wrong kind of stabilizer.  I didn't have the right kind and didn't feel like running out after it so I tried to make another kind work, and all that really did was waste time for me and create more work, lol.  Soo after I ran to the store and got the right kind I did them both again. Let me show you the one that is finished.  The other one I am going to add some fabric on the sides and then it still has to be framed, so I will wait until it's done to show you it....

THE BACKGROUND FABRIC IS USED ON THE BORDERS ON THE QUILT AND THE DESIGN I ALREADY HAD

IT'S PICTURED HERE WITH THE QUILT AND ONE OF THE SOFTIES SO YOU CAN SEE HOW WELL THE COLORS GO WITH THE OTHER THINGS FOR THE NURSERY
So that's about it in the sewing department.  I have got SOO much to do in the next 2 weeks there is just not going to be ANY time for any resting or mistakes, lol.  In fact I think I might make a list when I finish up here so that I can organize my time some. Sat. we ran more errands and went and saw My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.  It was exactly how you expected it to be, but even without any surprises hubby and I both got a kick out of it and enjoyed it.  Easter Sunday we decided to make the drive down to San Diego for church.  My youngest son and invited us all over for Easter dinner afterwards, and we were both SOO looking forward to it.  Service was SOOOO good.  Honestly the message was very anointed, and again MANY both got saved and re-dedicated their lives.  It was good to see soo many of our friends there too, and catch up a little bit with everyone.  After service we all headed over to James and Larissa's house where they had everything all ready.  A delicious ham, some kind of a WONDERFUL potato dish, [I will definitely be making this again sometime!] beans, salad, rolls, and watermelon.  And for dessert a couple different kind of pies.  It was just SOOOO good.  The kids had an Easter egg hunt and enjoyed each other's company, and us adults sat around and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves chatting and catching up.  I was struck once again how blessed I really am.  I have such a wonderful group of kids and grandkids and I will be forever grateful.  I do have a few pictures both of our day, and a couple from Melody and her family out in New Mexico.

COUSINS AFTER COMPLETING THEIR HUNT

THEY HAVE SO MUCH FUN TOGETHER

THESE TWO [JUST A WEEK APART IN AGE] HAD A GOOD TIME TOGETHER

CLAIRE WITH HER VERY FIRST EASTER BASKET.  MELODY SAID SHE SAT FOR QUITE A WHILE TAKING EVERYTHING OUT OF THE BASKET AND TURNING AROUND AND PUTTING IT ALL BACK IN, LOL

HOW DARLING IS THIS?   WISH I COULD HAVE SEEN THEM ALL TOO!
ALL DRESSED FOR THEIR DAY.....LOVE THE BOYS MATCHING SHIRTS TOO...
Well I guess that's about it for now.  I have to get busy on this day.  Hope to get around to visit some later with you all.  Can't really tell you how GORGEOUS our weather has been....how I love the spring.  I know the heat is around the corner, so that makes this time soo much more appreciated.  Hope you all have a good week!  Blessings to you all!  Debbie

  4. YOU are amazing!! I can NOT believe all you get done!!! Just so you know....I have cut out a pair of pajamas for my quad grandson, Harrison, from an old pair of Louis Dean's PJ's. They are not sewn yet - just cut out and sitting at the end of the sewing machine. YOU would have stitched them up before I could blink my eyes twice!!!
