SEWING IS FINALLY DONE FOR NOW.....

Well I know that I said this last week, but THIS week I really am almost done!  lol  Goodness, it is time for a break let me tell you.  I have had a list and I am doing my best to cross things off, but truthfully I am really kind of maxed.  Next year (if the Lord wills and I have a next year!) I am definitely going to start earlier.  I'll catch you up and get it documented here in on my blog for my books, and then hopefully I might blog about "something" besides my sewing projects.  Let me just show what the last week's work has been.

First of all the fabric I was waiting for arrived so I whipped up the top for Lindsey's Christmas PJ shorts.  And let me just say this.....almost everything I have made this week has presented one dilemma or another.  Or is it that I am just needing to take a break.  But!  I told you I had some leftover fabric for the sleeves and enough for the back of the top, but not enough for the front.  Sooo I decided to go ahead and order one of the darling panels, and make her one too.  Well, the minute I took it out of the package I realized...oh no....it was a child sized panel, not an adult, which of course of what I needed for almost 16 year old Lindsey.  There was NO way I was going to be able to make it work!  I was soooo tempted to think, "oh well....just move on....save this panel for next year for one of the little ones, and Lindsey already has a pair so why hassle it?"  But you know me.....OR I think you might....too stubborn for that.  I wanted to make her a matching top for those shorts!  Sooo I decided to "just make it work"  I got some red knit from my stash and cut it to make up the difference of the front and came out with this......

A LITTLE FUNKY, BUT THERE IT IS...LOL....SHE LOVES IT WHICH IS ALL THAT MATTERS, LOL...THE BACK OF THE TOP IS THE SAME AS THE SHORTS AND SLEEVES.  IT'S SUPER SOFT AND COMFY AND HONESTLY I AM PRETTY SURE SHE WILL WEAR THIS A LOT!

Then I got the fabric I just couldn't resist and made Claire a little Christmas time outfit for her to have for the season.  The fabric was every bit as cute as I thought it would be, and as I think back on it, I can't remember any real dilemmas with this one...Here it is...

THIS LOOKS A LITTLE BIGGER THEN IT IS...WHICH IS AN 18 MONTH, BUT I JUST LOVE THIS PATTERN THOUGH I MADE IT THIS TIME WITH LONG SLEEVES...I LOVE THE LITTLE POCKETS IT HAS ON THE SIDE PANELS.  AND I FIGURED THE BROWN POLKA DOT LEGGINGS CAN BE USED AFTER THE SEASON TOO..  SURELY IT WILL GO WITH A LOT.

BAD COLORING, BUT JUST A LITTLE CLOSER LOOK..  THE HOT PINK BINDING ON THE POCKETS I HAD ON HAND.
HERE IS LITTLE CLAIRE WEARING THE LITTLE "NEIGH NEIGH" TOP I MADE HER A WHILE BACK!  SHE'S GETTING SOO BIG!  LOOK AT THOSE LITTLE PIG TAILS!  I GUESS SHE LOVES THIS TOP!
OK, now lets see...what else did I do?   Oh yeah, I made a little outfit for my oldest sister's grand daughter as her birthday party is this week-end.  It is the same pattern as the little gingerbread one I just showed you for Claire is.  I love that pattern!  And it's quick and easy to make,  But this one presented me a little problem in that I did not have enough fabric and had to make another trip to Joannes for it. Let me show you....

I JUST LOVED THIS FABRIC WHEN I FOUND IT, AND IT REALLY SUITS PRISCILLA'S PERSONALITY I THINK.  IT IS KNIT FROM JOANNES WHICH I HAD KIND OF SAID I WOULDN'T USE AGAIN, LOL, BUT THEY HAVE A BRAND CALLED "SQUIGGLES" WHICH IS REALLY PRETTY GOOD!  AND ON SALE, IT HONESTLY CAN'T BE BEAT!

JUST A LITTLE CLOSER LOOK AT IT...I THINK IT HAS KIND OF A RETRO 60'S LOOK TO IT

But of course while I was at Joannes they had some new stuff in on their "squiggles" line, and I just couldn't resist this next project.  I honestly just didn't have the time, but I couldn't bear it, and outfits for Claire don't take much time so I went ahead a whipped this up too...lol

HOW CUTE ARE THOSE KITTIES...I KNOW SHE WILL LIKE THIS.  A LITTLE HOODIE AND MATCHING LEGGINGS WITH CUFFS.

I also ran and got my hair done one of those days last week, and I think that brings us up to last week-end where we got the rest of our house decorated for Christmas.....whew...is all I will say about that. It took WAY longer then I thought it might, and I STILL have a couple of little touches I have to do. I have not taken any pictures yet, but I am sure I will eventually and let you see. But it's good enough for now.  Pretty much took all of our Sat.  Then Sun, we spent our usual way.  Church in the morning with my oldest son's family and lunch afterwards, and then on out to my nieces house for Bible study with my youngest son, and dinner with him afterwards.  Both were soooo good, and sooo refreshing and lifted my spirits wonderously.  I have to just say one thing.....All the fighting and controversy over the election results has been really draining to me.  I do hate a conflict.  But I guess I could go on to say my choice won and do feel we have hope again for our great country.  I will pray for all involved quite diligently.

The last two days has had me making the tree skirt for my youngest son's family.  Larissa knew what she wanted and I can't tell you enough how I appreciate that.  I'd rather know then guess and then
have something that I spent time on that didn't suit their likes.  NOT that any of them would ever actually say it of course, lol, but I do want them to be pleased.  This one was quite the little challenge for me.  First of all I had to review how to get the circumference of a circle, remember what "pie" is, and then somehow figure out what size of everything to cut and how to put it together.  I did not have a pattern for this which I definitely prefer, lol, as then they figure out all that math stuff for you.  She wanted a burlap skirt with a red and gold ruffle, and their name somewhere on the skirt.  Oh, and she wanted it fairly big.  Once I figured out the circumference I put together my ruffles and got them attached to the skirt, only to realize I had not doubled that number as I should have and only had enough ruffles made for 1/2 of the skirt.  And I was out of fabric....soooo back to Joannes I went so I could finish it up.  And then!  I had the ruffle attached and decided I really needed to make some binding for the sides and around the neck of it, with strings long enough to tie into a bow to help hold it together.  I had enough fabric for this thankfully and picked up my rotary cutter to cut my 2 1/2 inch wide strips, and promptly sliced into my thumb.  Oh my goodness that hurt!  Honestly as much as I use the thing I am soo surprised I have never cut myself before.  But there was blood everywhere and I couldn't get it to stop.  I thought to myself, "you dork, now you are going to need to go to the ER and get stitches for not being careful!"   But it wasn't a very big cut...just deep...and eventually it did stop.  I had to wait until I was good and sure it was OK before I went ahead and finished it, but I finally did.  Let me show you....

THERE IT IS!  I COULD BARELY GET IT ALL IN THE PICTURE.  NEEDED A LITTLE MORE HEIGHT BUT YOU CERTAINLY GET THE IDEA

YOU CAN'T SEE IN THIS PICTURE, BUT I TOP STITCHED THE RUFFLE DOWN WITH A DECORATIVE STITCH USING MY GOLD METALLIC THREAD....AND YES, THAT'S MY TOE THERE, LOL

CLOSE UP OF OUR LAST NAME...AND A CLOSER LOOK AT THE FABRIC...I AM REALLY HOPING THE BURLAP HOLDS UP.  IT IS REALLY SOOO FLIMSY AND EASILY GETS HOLES IN IT, HOPEFULLY IT WILL

SOOOOO that's it for the sewing now.  I do still have to string all my banners (did mine on Sat so I could get it hung, and honestly it was somewhat of a nightmare to get it done....more on that later I guess)  And then I need to get everything all wrapped, some shopping done, get a mani and a pedi, and I am babysitting tomorrow for the San Diego grands.  OH, and I still need to get these eyes examined so I can get some new contact lenses.  Still LOTS to do, but I am putting that sewing machine to bed tonight for at least 12 days!!  whoo hoo...lol

Hope all of you are doing well.  I am going to do some visiting here when I hit publish until it's time to get dinner in the oven.  Wishing ALL of you a very blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving.  My daughter and her family will be here on Monday so I doubt I get back on here much if at all until after she goes back home.  How I am looking forward to seeing all of them would be hard to describe. God is good all the time!  Blessings, Debbie

  10. I love your sewing, but most of all I love how your family appreciate it!! That just blesses my heart. I think I told you I think my 930 burned up! I won't take it in yet because I am afraid to hear the news. So I haven't been sewing much lately. I know my grandsons would enjoy some new PJ pants...one, loves when I sew for him. Your pictures are great and so are your family pictures on FB. You always inspire me! Thanks for sharing!!
