QUICK CATCH UP.....

Well I was without my computer for a FULL week, so I am a little behind...I am going to try to catch back up and jump right in and not let it get completely out of control.  I do feel like I see blogging becoming a not as popular thing to do anymore, and my personal thought on that is it is because of Instagram.  It is soo easy to pop a quick pic and quick thought up and move on.  And in today's world the easier and the quicker the better.  I have to admit I do enjoy Instagram for those very reasons....But!  I do still have my moments where I want to sit down and read for a while, and I do LOVE having an account of what's been going on in my life, so I guess I will just press on with blogging...

I need to back up a bit to Sat. Feb 18th.  We headed down to San Diego to celebrate 8 year old Donatella Valentina's (born on Valentine's Day) birthday.  It was a fun but simple party and we enjoyed every minute of the games, snacks, and fun.  We got her a guitar as she has expressed such an interest in learning to play.  We have also decided to help out with some guitar lessons for her, and honestly I am really looking forward to her learning to play.  I am envisioning a future worship leader in this girl!

HOW CUTE IS SHE?  AND THE PINK GUITAR SUITS HER PERFECTLY

MOM AND DAD GOT THE STRAP AND THE CARRYING CASE AND SHE'S ALL SET

IT WAS POURING RAIN THAT DAY BUT NO WORRIES. THEY SET THE PARK PLANNED PARTY UP IN THE GARAGE, AND 23 KIDS HAD A WONDERFUL TIME, LOL

And honestly other then that I guess I don't really have much more to catch you up on.  I am back to a sewing frenzy.  I guess you have had to figure out by now that I spend some time pretty much every day at my machine.  I just enjoy it so.  I always have.  But the difference now is I don't have a lot of other things that demand my time and attention, so it opens up LOTS of time to pursue this....wink... I do enjoy quilting too, but truthfully, I just prefer the garment sewing.  It's quick and varied and fun.  And right at the top of my list is making little girl's clothing, (again, always has been) so this works out well for the little girls in my life.  Particularly Claire.  Let me show you what I have been up too....

Let me start with showing you this 20 sec or so video of little Claire wearing one of her new interchangeable outfits I sent her.  Melody sent it to me so that I could see how well it fit her.  I want you to see it so you can see WHY I enjoy sewing, lol

I AM REALLY HOPING THIS LITTLE SKIRT FITS HER....I AM THINKING I SHOULD WAIT AND SEE IF IT DOES (I am concerned about the waist part only) BEFORE I MAKE ANY MORE, BUT IT WAS SOOO EASY, QUICK, AND FUN I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN RESIST.  IT TAKES ALMOST NO FABRIC SO IT'S PRETTY INEXPENSIVE TO MAKE TOO.  I DID ADD THE RUFFLE LETTUCE HEM WHICH I AM REALLY LIKE.  STILL PRACTICING THOUGH AS IT IS NOT QUITE AS GOOD AS I WANT IT.  I AM BEGINNING TO THINK THE ONLY WAY TO ACHIEVE THAT LOOK WOULD BE FROM OWNING A SERGER.  I AM THINKING QUITE A BIT ABOUT PURCHASING ONE...

THEN I HAD TO ADD A LITTLE SHIRT TO GO WITH IT OF COURSE....THOUGH THEY COULD BOTH BE WORN WITH SOMETHING ELSE TOO

NOW THIS OUTFIT WAS REALLY FUN, THOUGH I MADE IT WITH INEXPENSIVE KNIT FROM JOANNE'S AND I COULD REALLY TELL.  THEY WERE BOTH NEW PATTERNS FOR ME, FROM A SHOP I DON'T USUALLY USE, AND THEY WERE NOT VERY EASY TO FOLLOW BUT I FIGURED IT OUT....I THINK MY POCKETS SHOULD HAVE BEEN TURNED UP MORE TOWARDS THE WAIST, AND MORE SIDEWAYS (looking at the pic on their pages) BUT IT WAS ONE OF THE FLAWS OF THE PATTERN.  THERE WAS NO MARKINGS ANYWHERE ON THE PATTERN, AND A SIMPLE MEASUREMENT GIVEN INSTEAD....WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE FOR MOST PEOPLE, BUT FOR ME I PREFER A MARKING.  I DIDN'T KNOW WHICH PART OF THE POCKET AT THE MEASUREMENT ETC.  FRUSTRATING....BUT CUTE ENOUGH FOR ME TO MAKE AGAIN THAT'S FOR SURE.  ESPECIALLY THE TOP, AS I AM LOVING THE RUFFLE BY THE SLEEVE.

NOW THIS MIGHT BE MY ALL TIME FAVORITE THING I HAVE EVER MADE FOR ANYONE, LOL.  I JUST LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS FABRIC FROM VINTAGE LACE.  IT IS THE SAME SHOP THAT I GOT THE FABRIC FOR THE TWO INTERCHANGEABLE OUTFITS.  THEIR FLAW IS THE FABRIC IS PRICEY, AND YOU HAVE TO ORDER A FULL YARD INSTEAD OF A 1/2 YARD.  AND A FULL YARD FOR SOMEONE AS LITTLE AS CLAIRE IS TOO MUCH.  AND FOR THE OLDER GIRLS I CAN'T ORDER 1 AND 1/2 YARDS, AND 2 YARDS IS WAY TOO MUCH AND WAY TOO PRICEY THEN.....BUT!  IT IS THE SOFTEST, SWEETEST FABRIC I HAVE EVER WORKED WITH AND I LOVE IT!!  THIS ONE HAD A PANEL....LOVE.....AND I ADDED THE LETTUCE HEM....LOVE....AND THE RUFFLE SLEEVES ARE JUST AN ADORABLE ADD TO THIS LOOK.  THIS WAS A NEW PATTERN TOO FOR THE SAME SHOP AS ABOVE, BUT EVERYTHING ABOUT IT WAS PERFECT!  LOVED IT.....NICE AND EASY  I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THIS ON MISS CLAIRE...THIS ONE IS FOR HER UPCOMING SECOND BIRTHDAY...

AND I MADE UP THIS ONE SO AS TO NOT WASTE THE LEFT OVER FABRIC....THE TOP IS FROM A PATTERN I USED FOR HER LAST YEAR, JUST IN THE BIGGEST SIZE NOW.  JUST ADDED ON THE LITTLE HEART APPLIQUE. CAN'T BELIEVE SHE IS GETTING SOO BIG.  HOW I LOVE LOVE LOVE THAT LEGGING FABRIC....(did I mention I LOVE the fabric from that shop??  lol)
Other then this, not much to report.  I did finish up the women's bible study I was doing, and I loved that too.  Another one starts up the first part of April and I am looking forward to that.  We are planning a trip out to Melody's over Easter and I am counting the days.  It will have been a full year since we were there which is just too long.  Thank goodness they were here a couple of times though, or I'd really be hysterical.

Got some more sewing lined up for this week, but that's about it.  Hope you are all healthy (goodness sooo much sickness going around this winter, (but hubby and I both have escaped thus far thank God!) and enjoying your winters. I am hoping to get around to visit and catch up with all of you now... Many blessings to you all!  Debbie

  1. Please don't stop blogging. Although, I have thought about it myself and realize I would miss the recording of interesting things and events. I might would spend more time doing other things such as painting or maybe even cleaning my house if I were to stop blogging. But, I'm not quite ready to give it up. I don't have many readers so its not like I would be missed. So, I guess I will keep it up a while longer for me. Adorable clothes for that precious little girl. Thanks so much for the video.

  2. Hi girlfriend, I understand about blogging-I'm not feeling very inspired these days. I haven't got onto my instragram account much. I think you are so very talented with sewing clothing(Me not at all). I just pinned a quilt to start tonight while watching the Voice. Have two more to quilt as well. One I may do simple machine quilting, since it will go to our Pregnancy Counseling Center. Keep producing Debbie-be it quilts or clothing. I have been lax in sewing since we went to AZ and need to get back into the routine.
    Hugs,
    Noreen

  3. That's where they've gone...gone to Instagram every one. Well, really, when will they ever learn? LOL

Between Instagram and Blogging, I'm far more a fan of blogging. Instagram just fools people into thinking they're doing something,

Now these outfits look very familiar.... Can't wait to see them on Claire.

  5. Easter is coming right up, if March flies by as quickly as February did. Even in the midst of all of the sickies, it still went fast. So that Easter visit with your loved ones is just around the corner!

Claire is so adorable . . . and well-dressed! I know you have fun making such cute little things! Love Donatella's sweet smile as she held her guitar!

  7. I hear you on the blogging issue, but I would miss the friends I have made here if I were to quit. I only blog to keep a photo record of things and I haven't caught on to Instagram. Your granddaughter with the pink guitar is precious. And, as always, you are the girl running the "mean machine" and turning out all those adorable outfits for your kids.

  8. What amazing sewing projects, Debbie! You are so talented and so good at putting things together.

Please don't stop blogging! I have no plans to quit, myself -- I do see it as a way God would have me use talents He has given me to reach out and encourage others.
