WEEK-END WRAP UP...AGAIN!

Well it's Monday again and I intended to get a post up this morning, but it's already past noon.  Time just goes soo quickly.  We had a nice week-end, though we sure had a BIG change in weather.  We have been enjoying some nice warm days with the temps in the low eighties.  Truthfully I'd rather be in the seventies, but still the weather has been nice.  But we dipped WAY back this week-end and actually had some rain too.  I was FORCED to shut our windows (though I still left our bedroom window open) as I was downright cold, and had to pull down my quilt while watching TV.  It was enough to let me know I am not wanting to go back to that, but I have a feeling the heat that's surely coming will make me wonder why.  Anyway....Sat., we had mainly a lazy day and just ran a couple of small errands.  I had to take my sewing machine in as suddenly the needle position was not working properly.  I can MAKE it work when I am just sewing, but when I tried to embroider it just wasn't going to work.  I did manage to get it in on Friday afternoon and it was ready on Sat. morning as it was just a quick adjustment that was necessary.  It is time for it's service though so I need to get it in again soon.  I can just never bear to part with it, lol.  I needed to finish up a project though that I needed for the next day for a birthday party so I am soo glad it was quick.  On Sunday we went to church and then to a birthday party for my sister Diane's youngest grandchild who is 5!  The party was at Chuck E. Cheese.  Now truthfully I have NOT been at one in a LONG time, and I had forgotten just how WILD the place can be, lol.  It was just utterly packed.  Honestly sooo many kids, and adults, and noise and confusion it was a tid bit overwhelming.  Made me feel like maybe I might be getting old, lol.  I made him some batman summer pj's, and a batman pillowcase with his name on it.  I will show you these plus a couple other pics I did manage to take.

THE BATMAN PJ'S....I THINK I ALREADY TOLD YOU ABOUT FINDING THIS KNIT AT JOANNES.  IT WAS REALLY NICE TO WORK WITH

BATMAN PILLOWCASE....HIS NAME IS ACTUALLY JACOB, BUT EVERYONE HAS CALLED HIM BUDDY FROM THE BEGINNING

MY NIECE MICHELLE AND HER LITTLE FAMILY, INCLUDING BUDDY,  THE ONLY PIC I GOT OF HIM ON THE DAY..

MY SON INSISTED HE WANTED THIS PIC OF MY SISTER'S AND I  SO WE OBLIGED.  IF IT WASN'T FOR MY RECENT CHANGE OF HEART THOUGH HE'D HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO TALK ME INTO IT.  MY SISTER WITH HER HAND ON THE PURSE IS MY OLDER SISTER DIANE, AND THE ONE NEXT TO HER IN THE BLUE IS ONE OF MY YOUNGER SISTER'S DANAE.  AND OF COURSE THAT'S ME BEHIND THEM.  OF COURSE WE ARE ALL LOOKING AT DIFFERENT CAMERA'S AS EVERYONE DECIDED TO TAKE ONE TOO, LOL

MY GRANDSON CODY AND MY GREAT GRANDNIECE PRISCILLA.  THEY ARE THE BEST OF FRIENDS

MY HUBBY AND MY OLDEST SON'S ENJOYED THE GAMES AS WELL, LOL

BETTER IN THAT WE ARE ALL LOOKING AT THE SAME CAMERA I GUESS, BUT THAT LOOK ON MY FACE IS HILARIOUS, LOL
MY OLDEST SON JOE AND HIS BELOVED AUNT DIANE.  THESE TWO HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED A PARTICULARLY CLOSE BOND
I honestly doubt anyone has read these books, but I thought I'd mention anyway that I am reading a continuation of a series of books I enjoyed YEARS ago when Melody was about 12 or 13 years old. It is the story of a young teenaged girl and her journey to womanhood and all that entailed.  It is a Christian series, and the story was a wonderful testimony to remaining pure until marriage, and the story of her romance and ultimate wedding to the man of her dreams.  It is such an entertaining and enjoyable series of books that I have bought and given them to all of my grand daughters as they have gotten to the age that it was appropriate for them to read them as well.  I just gave the series to my 12 year old granddaughter Capri for her birthday this last December, and she is already well into them. Well, I recently discovered that there are two more sets in the series of books in the story.  3 of which are called The Married Years, and the second which is called The Baby Years.  I bought the 3 of the married years and have recently read both book one and two.  Honestly they are just as good as the original books, though the content is probably better suited to older teenagers or even adults.  I am anxious to start book 3 and then I am sure I will go ahead and buy the remaining ones about their children.  I love books that tell a LONG life story like this.  Melody is quite anxious for me to finish these as I promised to pass them on to her when I am done.  It's like revisiting old friends.  The name of the series is called the Christy Miller series by Robin Jones Gunn.  They are nothing of any real significance I guess, but I have never come across someone who didn't enjoy them.  They are a quick and easy read.  I don't find myself reading like I used to.  There was a time where I always had a book of some kind in my hand somewhere in my day.  But these days I can go months between reading any.  But these have been a treat.

And just had to show these.  This is my great grand daughter Sophia who will be 1 in about a week!  I honestly can't believe she's already a year old.  And such a darling little thing I can hardly stand it. She will be having a birthday party soon (right after her mom finishes finals) and I can hardly wait to see her.  I will be getting busy this week on some things for her.

IS SHE JUST ADORABLE!??

Don't have a lot else on my agenda this week.  A little of this and a little of that.  Hope you all are well and enjoying God's blessings that are everywhere.  Debbie

  1. The pictures of you with your sisters are precious. I am glad that you have had a change of heart. Your family will be glad, too.

Oh goodness, the goodies you create. How wonderful for those who know you! Glad that you got your machine back quickly. You need a couple of spares. 😉

Sophia is darling and reminds me of my daughter when she was that age...about the same size and coloring.

Stay warm out there. What's going on. anyway? We're chilly, too.

  2. I do love the photo of you and your sisters, Debbie! It is wonderful. So there is a Debbie, a Danae, and a Diane? Oh my goodness. If I'd had three 'D' names in my children, I'm sure I would have gotten them all mixed up. Did your mother go through all three names when she was calling you? like, 'Danae, Diane, I mean Debbie.' :-) Darling pics of the best friends and little Sophia too. I'm going to have to check Joann's for cotton knits. That's a really cute one!

  3. I always wanted a sister but had 2 wonderful brothers instead. I am blessed with a wonderful SIL that I love like a sister and am so thankful for her. You just continue to create such cute fashions. Have a great week!

  4. Maybe you should embroider yourself a shirt that says "Survived a Birthday Party at Chuck E. Cheese's"! :D

I do love the photos of you and your sisters. You are doing well with keeping that promise to yourself. Photos for posterity.

Sophia is a darling!! Hard to believe that she is nearly ONE!

  5. I've read some books by Robin Jones Gunn. I'll have to check these out. I love series books too. I'm reading one right now of Dee Henderson about the O'Malley Family.

Love those Batman PJ's and pillow case. My daughter dresses my grandson in Batman stuff all the time.

  6. I've read some of Robin Jones Gunn. Back when I first started blogging I won one of her books in a giveaway on someone's blog. I could not handle the chaos of Chuck E. Cheese back when my girls were small so am pretty certain I wouldn't like it now. My youngest loved it!
