Well it is Friday again already. Time does just continue to scream by....I thought I might escape the post Mel blues this time but didn't quite make it. I think I had the "high" of finding out the gender of the baby to keep me going for a couple of days anyway, haha. But yesterday I began to feel the familiar let down and decided that rather than sit around on the day nursing my sad feelings, I would spend a day with my little grandson Jeffie. I have not had a day alone with him since I can honestly remember. I used to live of course only 5 to 10 minutes from their house and popped over for a little "grandkid fix" whenever I felt the need (which was often). Now they are more like 35 minutes away (IF there is no traffic) and it's not as convenient for those quick visits. Plus, his birthday was last week and I usually spend a day like this with whatever grandchild who’s celebrating. It is hard when you have as many grandkids as I do to spend one on one time with them. Some of them of course are still a little young for this, but how I love it. Anyway...Jeff gets out of school early on Thursdays so (with his parents permission of course) I took him out around 11:30 and we headed out. He only missed lunch, recess and art so I didn't feel too bad. The look on his face when he saw me sitting in the office waiting for him made my whole day. He was just soo excited and glad to see me. He began chattering a mile a minute and we left on our adventure. We started at our favorite restaurant for lunch. And yes, we have a favorite, haha. It has a GIANT aquarium full of GORGEOUS fish for Jeff and plenty of good healthy food for me. When we got in the car, in between things he was excitedly telling me, he said, "Grandma, are we going to go to "our" place for lunch?" How darling was that? "Of course we are," I told him. We chatted through our lunch with Jeffie telling me about his happenings at school. At 7 suddenly he seems to be really growing always happens so fast. After lunch we went and saw the new kid movie, Hop. I wasn't expecting much, but Jeff was excited to see it. It was surprisingly pretty entertaining. We were the ONLY people in the theater which he found just wonderful for some reason, haha. He said, "Grandma we can talk as loud as we want to...there's no one to hear us." We laughed and enjoyed ourselves through the movie and came out singing the song, "We need candy, candy..." over and over. We found ourselves most amusing.  We got his hair cut, though he didn't really think he needed one Grandma, haha, and after that we went to do a little shopping at Kohl's. Jeff needed some spring and summer clothes and they were having a sale I knew. We had given him money for his birthday to combine with all the other money he received so his parents could buy him an X box...He was soo excited by this. Oh the stories I heard about those games, haha. But I wanted to get him some of the things he NEEDED as well. Anyway, we got him 3 pairs of shorts and 4 t-shirts and a couple pair of flip flops. All Tony Hawk designs who is the "cool skater guy Grandma" I guess, haha. All I know is everything was 40 to 50 percent off and seemed like really good prices to me. We finished off our afternoon with a frozen yogurt from Golden Spoon. Jeff LOVES LOVES LOVES fresh fruit and couldn't decided between strawberries or blackberries so I told him he could just get both, haha. Only with Grandma. Such a good day. When I was hugging him goodbye I asked him (like I AWAYS do) "Who loves you Jeffie?" and he answered, "You...up to the sky....and forever." Truer words were never spoken. That day was just what I needed!

I wanted to let you know that Melody's new cousin in law does NOT have Cystic Fibrosis and is home from the hospital, and has already gained a pound! Praise God... We have a birthday party for my nephew this week-end, cards tonight with my parents, and the rest of the week-end stretching out in front of us without a lot we have to do. The weather is beautiful in California and I am looking forward to getting out in it and soaking it up. Hope you all have a wonderful week-end.
