WEEK-END HAPPENINGS

Well, we are back home with Jeff's test all over with too.  He sailed through it all with flying colors, and we are both glad to have it behind us.  We were talking about it on the way home, and wonder why now we put this test off for soo long.  It really wasn't nearly as bad as either one of us had anticipated.  In fact, the anticipation of it was really the worse part.  He found the drugs they use as pleasant as I did. haha (and I don't like drugs!) And while the "prep" is not wonderful, it too wasn't as bad as we feared.  Sooo all of this to encourage all of you who NEED to get this done (I think you are suppose to do one at 50... just 7 years behind for me, and 10 for hubby!) to JUST DO IT....At the end of the day, what he can prevent it well worth it.  I think back to my breast cancer and realize how fortunate I was that mine was caught in the stage that it was considering I was NOT having my mammograms regularly like I should have been.  All of these things are soo much more "workable" when caught early.  Soo ladies, if it is time for your regular mamo, don't put this off either!  Ok, I can get off of my soap box for now.  :-)

I have "somehow" pushed something and changed the type on my comments (and on the comments of others as well) to some tiny little print.  It is tiny here as I am typing this too.  No matter what I do I cannot seem to fix it.  This is just not going to work for me!  I have a hard enough time seeing it all when the print was normal, wearing my glasses....So if anyone can help me out, I'd sure appreciate it.

As for our week-end, all in all it was a good one.  Friday afternoon after my hair appointment I headed over to my mom's and my hubby met me there after work for a little visit as well.  My step dad had not eaten much of anything for a couple of days, and has progressed to Morphine though it isn't really being used for pain as much as they are hoping to help his chest muscles relax some to help him to breathe better.  Again, so hard to watch.  However, he opened his eyes to ask me if my hubby was coming and when I assured him he was he said to me, "Do you think he would stop and get me a Klondike Bar?"  haha  Jeff brought him one of course, and he ate the whole thing and sat up in his chair for a full hour before going back to bed.  It was a good visit.

On Sat. hubby and I spent the morning rearranging cupboards (yes, we are STILL not done with this) and running a couple of errands, but decided to relax that afternoon.  Sooo we headed over to my oldest son's house and picked up our grand daughter Lindsey and took her with us for a late lunch and movie.  We saw the Avengers.  Really not bad at all as far as Super Hero movies go, haha.  We both like to concentrate sometimes on one grand at a time as it makes them feel special for a few hours as they get our undivided attention, and we enjoy it thoroughly too.  Lindsey is getting to be so grown up.  She is 11 and has just finished the 5th grade.  She got all A's, and had such a good year.  Grandpa and I were both quite proud of her.

On Sun., we managed to go down to San Diego for church even though we had to head immediately back home after service as hubby had to begin his prep.  But I did give Donatella her "cloak" which she was thrilled with.  Here are a couple of pics of her in it.
HOW DARLING IS SHE?!

GRANDMA AND TELLA

When we got home from church our middle son John met us at the house and he and I headed over to see my parents.  John had not been there in a while, so I was glad he got the opportunity.  After our visit there, John and I stopped and had dinner as Jeff couldn't eat of course.  We took our time and had a long, leisurely dinner and talk.  I love those RARE opportunities when I get any of my adult kids to myself for just such a thing, as it is always soo hard to REALLY talk to any of them when we are all together.  John performed both Sat. and Sun night at a comedy club in Los Angeles.  He shared the stage with Garret Morris.  He does this really just for fun, and I guess the show was really quite successful.  John stayed quite late as he watched a movie with us when we got back home.

I have been holding onto these verses this last week, so I decided to share them with all of you.

Isaiah 41:10  Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you.  I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41: 13  For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you,  "Fear not, I will help you."

Such wonderful promises from our mighty God.  I do want to thank all of you who are praying for our family as we go through this difficult time.

I have a busy week coming up, and I hope all of you are enjoying these early weeks of June.

  1. Isaiah 41:10 is my favorite Bible verse ... one well worth knowing.

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! Glad you got your tests behind you ... and that you both got good results. You won't have to worry about them for another 10 years now. ;-)

  5. Good verses to commit to memory for they help so much. You certainly have a lot on your plate, though you carry on. It's a good witness and a strong testimony. Thank you for sharing the story of the Klondike bar. I'm so glad that your step-father enjoyed it.

The grandgirlie looks so cute in her cape! Congrats to the All-Star with All-A's, too!

  6. Hi Debbie, So thankful that your step dad was able to at least eat a Klondike bar. I'm glad your man sailed through his test easily-I think it is the unknown we fear-I found it like you said, no big deal.
Hope you have a wonderful day!

  8. Hi Debbie, I am so glad everything turned out well for your DH. I can relate, any medical procedure really stresses me out!! Thanks for encouraging us all to be preventive, I really need to heed. I will confess, I had a colonoscopy scheduled last fall, and cancelled, I really need to reschedule,Okay I can just hear you saying " you better get it done." ~smile~

Donatella, looks so adorable and the smile says it all, I think it matches her shoes, oh so stylish is she. I like the idea of spending one on one with the grandchildren!. You are so blessed to have them so nearby!

  10. It's by prayer and grace alone that any family walks through that valley of the shadow of death. The every familiar verse takes on a whole new meaning when you do, doesn't it?

Praise God for the "Klondike Moment".

And your little Tella is precious beyond words in her purple cape. You need a picture of them together for framing because it's just too perfectly "little girl" not to document.
