NEW HAIR CUT, AND SOME WONDERFUL NEWS!

Oh my goodness...is it ever HOT!!  It is 108 in Brea at 2:00 which means it hasn't even peeked out yet...sigh.  I am nice and comfy here in my house which I keep at around 78, so guess I should not complain as I know not everyone has air conditioning.  And to answer your question Lois, no, we don't have to run the air all the time in California.  At least I don't.  And those near the beach usually don't even have it.  At my old house (where the temps were DEFINITELY hotter ~ we lived way inland) I ran my air conditioning when it reached about 95 degrees (or more of course) outside which was a great part of the summer.  BUT! even though I had a MUCH bigger house I didn't have to run it as much.  I set the air at around 75 or so and it didn't have to run much to keep it there.  It was because the house was well insulated and we had energy saving windows, and a fairly new energy saving air conditioner.  Though my electric bill was still scary the months of August and September, I seldom ran it in June, or July.  But in this house even though it doesn't get quite as hot ( now we are about midway inland) here I run it MUCH MUCH more.  If it is 85 degrees outside (which is really not bad in my book) it is 83 inside which is WAY too hot for indoors. So now I run it in June, July, August and September, and even occasionally some in October.  By far the worse months out here are August and September.  So we are almost through the worse of it.....right?  I certainly hope so.  Have I just written a WHOLE big paragraph on heat?  haha....  I am just so over it.  I can't wait for a Fall feel.

On Tues. mom and I headed down to Newport (always cooler there, haha) to have our hair done.  I decided I wanted to change it up some.  I get in those moods more often then you might think.  I have been wanting to cut my hair off for a while now.  I just felt like it just sort of "hung there" you know? And yet I don't want to mess with my hair too much.  Nothing "fiddly" in other words, haha.  Soo Jessie lightened up a bit more, and cut it off.  I had Jessie take some pictures of it as Melody was anxious to see what I had done, so I can share with you what she sent her...I think I am really going to like it...I just wish I could do it as well as she does.  How grateful I am to have a talented niece to do my hair.  If it weren't for her (and her "family" rates) I am not sure what I'd be doing with these grey locks, haha.

I REALIZE OF COURSE I HAVE A "DUMB" LOOK ON MY FACE, HAHA, BUT YOU GET THE IDEA.  HOW I WISH I COULD GET IT AS SMOOTH AS SHE DOES, BUT SO FAR I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO.  SHE NO DOUBT USES BETTER PRODUCTS...OH WELL

Women's Bible study group yesterday was soo good.  I am really grateful that it has worked out for mom and I to be able to go.  I know it is a long drive and somewhat of a push for her, but she is a trooper and has done well with it.  James took both of us out to lunch yesterday to a Greek restaurant where we all had a chicken salad, that honestly may have been the best salad I have ever had.  It was just delicious!  We both really enjoyed ourselves.

And!  I am excited to announce that Lindsey won her election, and is officially the new ASB president of her school!  I am soo happy for her.  And so proud.  Lindsey works hard and has such a sweet spirit about her.  I just know she is going to make a wonderful President!  I wasn't able to make it to the assembly as it was at 8:45 in the morning and mom gets picked up around 10:30 or so, and I needed to be here.  I was glad a friend's mother snapped this picture of Lindsey on her big moment.

Little Jeffie will be here soon as he is going to spend the night with Grandma and Grandpa so that we can all attend JD's 6th birthday party tomorrow.  Good thing it is a pool party, as I think it is suppose to be another scorcher.  I honestly can't believe this little guy is already 6!  I am looking forward to the day.

Hope you all have a wonderful week-end, and you fellow California bloggers, hope we all don't melt!

Blessings!  Debbie

  2. Your hair cut looks great, I cut mine off last weekend. :) It must be in the air. I can't get mine to ever look like the gal who does it either. Are you kidding me? 108?? I thought 103 was bad today. When it is that hot it is just miserable.
Well it sounds like you have a nice weekend planned. I am so glad your grand daughter won!! She looks so cute in that picture.
It is so nice to come for a visit today. I hope it cools off soon too.

I'm sorry it is so hot for you, it is getting cooler here though. Hope you have fun with Jeffie and congrat's to Lindsey.

  5. Great haircut! Do you have a Chi flatiron? If not, get one. I can promise you that it will definitely smooth your hair like no other. I love, love mine!

  6. Cute hair! Makes me want to make an appt stat. Congrats to your granddaughter on the presidency. I am certain that she'll do a splendid job. Why? Because she looks like a smart and responsible young lady.

We still run the AC in September IF the humidity is high. I can't take the humidity.

  7. Love the new do, the cut looks great on you.
You really are having some heat, ours is finally starting to cool off, but I am still having to run the air conditioning. I look forward to those months with no a/c or heat running....should be soon. Congrats to your granddaughter...stay cool this weekend

  8. Wow I did the same thing this summer.. I always had long hair all my life and this summer it was SO hot here in South Carolina and I was so tired of having to 'deal' with my hair I said thats it.. So I went, had some highlights added to cover the grey and cut it short.. As a matter of fact you and I now have the same hair cut an it looks wonderful on you! :)

  10. Oh Debbie, I love the new cut ... what I wouldn't give to have hair that I could wear my hair in that very same style! But mine is so thin and so fine that I have to keep it short or it just hangs there like a limp rag so I look like the proverbial drowned rat. ;-)

  12. Now THAT is a darling haircut Debbie!!! I love it on you, and the color is perfect. I wish I could pull of that straight look, it never seems to do that for me, so I end up with rollers at night and boy has that gotten old!

    Happy weekend!
