MISCELLANEOUS STORIES....

I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable week-end.  I know I sure did!

Sat. morning hubby and I caught up on a couple of necessary errands and then decided to see a movie in the early afternoon.  We saw Impossible.  It was REALLY good and had me in tears a few times.   It was definitely kind of stressful and overwhelming when you saw all these poor people went through, but I would recommend it anyway.  After that we grocery shopped and headed home to barbecue some yummy Salmon, and watch a little TV.  Just relaxing and un-eventful...just what I needed.  On Sunday after church we decided to take the rest of the day and clean our closet (how I have been DREADING this!) and then shampooed both our bedroom and the area rug in the family room with our new Kirby.  : )  What a job that closet was!  I did manage to eliminate LOTS of clothes I am no longer wearing, and a few other items that I have no idea why I was even holding onto.  We have quite the load for good will!  There is just nothing like a freshly organized and cleaned out closet for me.  (except for maybe a freshly vacuumed or shampooed rug!) Now you have to know that our closet is one of those HUGE walk-ins that is the size of a small room.  Seriously, it is just HUGE, which of course has it's definite benefits, but also ends up being an easy place to stick something I can't decide what else to do with.  I am wondering how long it might take me to fill it back up with junk.  Seriously though my plan is to keep it just like it looks this morning!  The rugs came out looking just beautiful!  I am soo pleased with my new Kirby, I could practically do a commercial for one.

There is just soo much flu going around out here.  It makes me nervous I am not going to lie.  I did not get a flu shot and I think it might be the last year I don't get one.  My mom did get one thankfully, but I have heard that the shot is not protecting people from one of the big strains that is going around.  Have any of you heard that?    It is hard trying to keep her away from everyone who has a cold or the flu, but we are doing the best we can.  I did take advantage of the fact that my youngest sister has mom today (she will be back around 3) and ran and got some blood work done this morning that my doc ordered 3 months ago!  Not sure why I have been putting this off, (guess I just never really want to know if something is wrong!) but I guess I figured I had procrastinated long enough.  So now we will see what it is in a few days...sigh.  I am to have lunch with my girlfriend this afternoon before mom gets here and how I am looking forward to that.  Her sweet mom passed away in December, and this is the first chance we have both had to get together.

I intend to get busy soon with a few things I am going to make for the new baby, and I am re-doing our LARGE picture collage that hangs in our family room.  Guess that's about all I have for now.  Hope you all enjoy your week!  Here are a few pics I thought you might enjoy!

HERE IS MEL AT 18 WEEKS....NOW SHE IS 20 WEEKS AND 4 DAYS AND CLAIMS SHE IS MUCH BIGGER! I AM STILL WAITING FOR PROOF MEL!

Photos of Mel and Sam are always adorable! They are both so photogenic.
Your weekend sure was busy, but it does feel so good to clear out those cluttered places-that's part of the 'nesting' instinct too!
I sure hope none of you get that awful flu-May God protect you.

  4. Hi sweet friend, I used to always get flu shots but stopped when we moved here. I am always so uncertain and can honestly say that I have gotten the flu the years I got the shot. Mel looks so cute(so does Sam) and my Carrie isn't really showing yet...she is 21 weeks if not more. I doubt she is wearing maternity clothes yet-which is amazing that she is having #6. Hope you have a wonderful Monday Debbie.
    Hugs, Noreen

  5. I did not get the flu shot either but what I have been told is that it is not protecting folks from the strain of flu that is going around. I know a few that got the flu shot but still got the flu. (I actually haven't gotten the flu shot in three years, if I had continued to work I would have been required to get it or wear a mask for the duration of flu season) I know you can't always prevent exposure but I have been using good hand washing techniques and staying away from places I know it might be. That photo of Sam asleep is just precious, he is getting so big.

  7. Oh, a big walk in closet to keep clean! I would love that! We have a big house, but 33 years ago they didn't build big closets. Our closets are not small but not near big enough. :o)

Glad you have had some fun before your Mom came back.

    Great pics!

  8. I love your pictures! That Sam is just too cute. I'm glad your mom had the flu shot as it's really needed for the elderly or those with compromised immune systems. It's going around our school too. And speaking of colds; everyone seems to be sneezing and coughing. That is why we had that class for the little ones on hand washing.

I'm so out of it with movies. It's been so long since I've been. But I'll check out the previews online as I do have movie ticket gift cards that I've not used.

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie

  10. Sweet photos of Sam...do you find yourself wondering if Luke will look like his big brother?

You've done well to get your closet rearranged and the clothes set aside for Goodwill. That's a chore I do not like and find very challenging.

Now if you keep talking about your new Kirby...

  11. Our closets are big but not as big as yours. As nice as a great big closet would be, it does have its drawbacks ... our closet gets filled up with too much stuff too quickly, so I can only imagine how bad it would be with a larger closet. ;-)

I love, love, love those pictures of Sam (and Mel). I especially like the picture of that rascal climbing the child gate!

Hope you all can manage to avoid the flu. ;-)
