A LITTLE OF THIS AND THAT

Well it's Friday afternoon already and I decided to put up a quick post.  3 in one week!  I am on a roll, lol.  Though I think it just shows I really have not been too busy yet.  I don't have a lot to post about either, so this might actually be pretty quick.  [for me that is!]

My week was really just kind of slow and non eventful and sometimes that's just what I am in the mood for.  Truthfully it has been my mood since the hustle and bustle of Christmas was put away and the new year began.  Yesterday I got to have lunch with my youngest son as he was on his way back through our area after having to drive up to LA early in the morning.  I honestly don't know if I can tell you how much I enjoy one on one time with ANY of my kids.  It just almost NEVER happens. Especially since 3 of them have pretty big families, including Melody living 1000 miles away of course. Now don't get me wrong, of course I LOVE spending time with my "in-law" kids too, and time with my grands is some of my best, but there is just something about an extended conversation and time spent with one of my kids.  We met at my favorite restaurant and sat and talked for a little over two hours before we both headed home.  We were definitely getting the stink eye from the waitress, but we tried to pretend we weren't noticing.  There was plenty of room in the restaurant so she really didn't have much to complain about I don't think, lol.   But we caught up on everything that's been happening, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

Other then that, and Bible study, I spent the majority of my week searching for fabric and patterns for the quilt for my great grand daughter.  I am happy to report I found BOTH.  I ordered a jelly roll on line that has mainly lavenders, purples, greens and golds in it at a REALLY good price.  I am going to have to buy some more yardage of course too, but I am waiting for it to arrive so I can take it with me to the local quilt shop and get some back ground fabric and maybe a border or two.  We will see. I think the pattern I selected will be pretty fast and easy to piece, and really cute as well.  Kind of a scrappy look.  We will see.

I did put together another blanket for her and I am really pleased with the way it came out.  I just made it one of the self binding blankets, but one of the fabrics is that super, super soft and comfy fabric which honestly can be a real pain to work with as it slips and slides all over the place.  But I used my walking foot which helped alot, [ I can finally work it on my new machine....not that it is really new anymore considering I have had it over two years, lol] and lots and lots of pins, which considering I barely ever pin anything it really went against my grain, but I did it anyway.  The smaller inside fabric is flannel and I really like them together.  I also whipped up Cody's Star Wars pillow case so I just have to figure out a time to get it over to him now.  Let me show you....

NO, STILL HAVEN'T DUG OUT GOOD CAMERA....SOON I HOPE

CLOSE UP OF THE SOFT AND COMFY FABRIC.  IT REALLY DOESN'T DO IT JUSTICE THOUGH IF YOU CAN'T TOUCH IT.  IT IS JUST SOOOOO SOFT!

I KNOW HE'S GOING TO LOVE THIS!
So that's really all I have.  I am looking forward to our week-end as always.  Hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing week-end, and that your New Year is off to a GREAT start.   I'll leave you with this weeks cutest grandkid pics.  Blessings, Debbie

THIS HAPPY, SMILING GIRL IS GETTING SO BIG!  GRANDMA MISSES HER!

THE BOYS PLAY IN THE BACKYARD AND POOR CLAIRE CAN'T BEAR TO BE LEFT BEHIND,  SHE CRAWLS OVER TO THE SLIDING DOOR AND BANGS ON IT TILL ONE OF THE BOYS COMES TO TALK TO HER.  SHE GIGGLES IN DELIGHT.  SWEET LITTLE LUKE IS OBLIGING HERE.

  1. Always fun to visit and see your cute family. Rub a dub dub, three kids in a tub! Too cute. And Vinny cracks me up in his new car. Too adorable. You're staying busy, Deb. If you go missing, I'll know that you are busier yet!

  3. I can so identify with you on those rare times when we can enjoy our adult kids one-on-one. It just doesn't happen often enough though, does it. And my goodness those grands are so adorable. I agree with Lea, Mel's three look so much alike. And your youngest is quiet handsome himself. So glad you had some down time these two weeks. We are doing lazy quiet well at our house.
