SOME RANDOM THOUGHTS.....

Not a whole lot going on over here, but thought I'd check in anyway.  I've been busy with my sewing, but that's about it, so I can't decide if there is any point in sharing it as always.  I sometimes wonder if anyone finds it either:

1.  boring
2.  repetitive
3.  or worse of all....boastful, lol

I imagine it's just like so many other things.  You are either interested in things like sewing or your not.  I find myself MAINLY gravitating towards sewing blogs, sewing tutorials, sewing fabric, sewing projects, and even sewing businesses, lol.   I know....SHOCKER.... Not to say I don't enjoy many other types of blogs and posts because I certainly do, but if I am caught up on my regular bloggers I follow, then I am off in search of what I can find in the sewing world.  I keep myself busy with all of the things that NEED to be done of course as well such as bed making, dishes, cooking, laundry, grocery shopping and the like.  And of course my bible studies take up some of my time as well.  But my hubby leaves here at around 6:30 am, (and I am always showered and dressed with the bed made and things straightened by then) and doesn't return until 6:00 or even 6:30 pm, so it does make for a pretty LONG day to fill.  Don't get me wrong.  I am NOT bored.  I am usually busy....there's ALWAYS something I NEED to do, or WANT to do, and I am definitely not complaining.  I am very grateful that I don't need to work, and that I am blessed with health that is good enough that I can enjoy the simple pleasure of sewing.  Our plan is that hubby will retire in 2 or 3 more years and then I imagine (if the Lord wills it and I am still here..wink) my life will change somewhat and I won't find soo much unspoken for time on my hands.  I will go ahead and admit I guess that I do feel guilty sometimes.  I know MANY who are still knee deep in the trenches (as I call it) and must trudge off to work everyday (like my husband) or who are busy helping raise grandkids or are at least involved in their day to day care, or are very busy with volunteer work either at church or in the community, and I feel as I don't do much at all in comparison.  But then of course that's where the danger comes in doesn't it? Comparing myself to others has NEVER gone very well for me.  My arthritis keeps me from doing some things I feel like I might do that could be both productive and helpful to others, but it is the old it is what it is.....Sooooo, I guess for me this is me in this season of my life.  What can I say?  I sew....lol.  So I will quickly show you my latest projects, and then I have just a couple other things I might mention.

THIS HAS TURNED INTO ONE OF MY NEW FAVES TO MAKE.  A QUICK PAIR OF SHORTS THAT CALLS FOR SOO LITTLE FABRIC THAT I AM MAKING IT SOMEWHAT OUT OF SCRAPS LEFT OVER FROM OTHER PROJECTS...MAKES THEM FREE RIGHT?  lol  THE QUESTION REMAINS OF COURSE OF HOW THESE WILL ACTUALLY LOOK ON HER OR IF THEY WILL FIT, BUT MEANWHILE THEY ARE PRETTY CUTE I THINK

I ACTUALLY STARTED WITH THIS LITTLE TOP AND HAD ENOUGH LEFT TO MAKE UP THE SHORTS TOO THOUGH OF COURSE THEY COULD BOTH BE PAIRED WITH OTHER THINGS.  THE RUFFLE ON THIS TOP (in case you can't see it very well) IS MADE OUT OF EYELET AND I TRIED TO DO THE LETTUCE HEM ON IT AND HONESTLY IT DIDN'T GO WELL, BUT IT WAS OK.  AND OF COURSE YOU WOULDN'T HAVE TO TUCK THE TOP IN

I HAD THIS LITTLE BIT OF YELLOW EYELET AROUND FOR A LONG, LONG TIME AND I FINALLY DECIDED TO MAKE UP THIS LITTLE TOP WITH IT.  IT LOOKS PRETTY SHORT, BUT IT MIGHT GO DOWN FURTHER THEN I THINK WITH THOSE STRAPS....WE WILL SEE.  BUT I FELT BETTER FINALLY AT LEAST TRYING TO USE THIS FABRIC

IT LOOKS PRETTY GOOD WITH THE SHORTS I THINK....LOL
I KNOW I ALREADY SHOWED YOU THIS LITTLE DRESS.  BUT I WANTED YOU TO REMEMBER THIS FABRIC.  IT WAS SOME OF THE EXPENSIVE STUFF I BOUGHT FROM THE DESIGNER SHOP THAT I COULDN'T RESIST.  I HAD TO BUY THIS FABRIC IN YARD INCREMENTS AS THEY DON'T SELL BY THE HALF YARD.  I FELT KIND OF GUILTY BECAUSE IT WAS PRICEY, AND WAS THEREFORE DETERMINED TO USE IT ALL UP SO THAT IT DIDN'T GO TO WASTE.  NOW KNOWING THIS I'LL SHOW YOU WHAT I CAME UP WITH...

FIRST THERE WAS THIS WHICH AGAIN I KNOW I ALREADY SHOWED YOU...BUT A TOP AND LEGGINGS

AND YESTERDAY I ADDED THIS LITTLE PAIR OF SHORTS.  I LOVE THEM!  OR I THINK IT'S JUST THAT I LOVE LOVE THIS FABRIC!

THEN, I HAD THIS HAPPY FABRIC FOR A WHILE, AND I JUST DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT.  IT IS CUTE, BUT THIN, AND I DIDN'T HAVE MUCH.  BUT I THOUGHT IT MATCHED WITH THIS FABRIC PRETTY WELL.THIS IS HOW IT LOOKS UNTUCKED WITH THE SHORTS.

AND NOW TUCKED IN...HMMM THINK I LIKE IT BETTER UNTUCKED

AND HERE IT IS WITH THE LEGGINGS....WOULD YOU BELIEVE I STILL HAVE ENOUGH OF THE POLKA DOT COORDINATE TO DO SOMETHING ELSE....BUT WHAT?  LOL  AND I DOUBT MELODY REALLY WANTS SOO MANY OUTFITS WITH THE SAME FABRIC.  BUT I JUST DON'T REMEMBER WHEN I LIKE A FABRIC AS WELL.
OK, let's see....Jeff and I had a nice week-end.  We went and saw the Shack on Sat.  I know there is some controversy involved with this film within the Christian community, but I read a couple of things and then decided to see it myself.  I had not read the book but know many who had.  We both thoroughly enjoyed it.  Even though the topic of the movie is a very sad, and depressing one, I did find that they showed how God really can work things together for good very well.  Was it totally scriptural?  NO...but then not much is unless it is the Bible itself.  Could it be confusing for those who are not strong Christians, firmly planted in His Word, maybe.  But overall I thought it was really good and a positive inspirational movie that encourages those who belong to him to trust Him more.

We went down to my son's church on Sunday and that too was really good.  It was hard too I am not going to lie as the time change on Sat. night meant we were leaving a WHOLE HOUR earlier as well, lol.

That's it for now.  Hope you too are all having a good week.  Love and blessings to you all!  Debbie

  2. Thank you for chatting about "The Shack." So many in the Christian community are confused by Christian Allegory, which is merely a literary device to teach the things of God in an understandable way. "The Shack" is for adults what "The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe" is for children. It is a work of fiction. It should not be understood as The Gospel. It was interesting that you appreciated the movie when you had not read the book. Maybe I dare to go myself if it lasts long enough in the theaters.

What you do for your family by sewing is a huge blessing. HUGE! Enjoy your sewing and creating...💐

  3. Oh, Debbie! I love and admire all your creative sewing projects! I sew but am so not in the same catagory as you, therefore, I drool over what you do and always intend to do better and more projects myself. I remember when you first found out about expecting a baby granddaughter - was it now YEARS ago?? - and it so inspired me. However, I spend a ton of $$ and many MANY hours making a layette for my tiny preemie grand quadruplets. Sadly, not one of them ever wore a single gown. The only thing that DID get some wearings were the newborn caps. I guess the NICU and all the wires they were hooked up to didn't suit gowns with drawstrings bottoms. I actually cried when I saw them all bundled up and ready to go to the Goodwill and realized all my effort went for nothing. I hae found it a bit more difficult to sew up stuff since then. However those same grandquads think their MeeMaw can repair anything and just yesterday I sewed a tear on Harrison's back pack. They all dearly love my sewing machine and gather around it every time they visit. I do make pajama bottoms for them now and they LOVE them! AND they WEAR them!!!
Keep sharing what you do!! I love to visit!

  4. I love the fabric that you love! The color combination is just so pretty. Bekah once had a skirt with those colors, and it also had roses. It was one of her favorites . . . mine too!

  5. Oh those precious little outfits. I love that you coordinate the fabrics like you do. I makes so many different outfits and everyone is adorable. Wish we could see pics of little Claire wearing them. Debbie, I enjoy reading your posts because they reflect who you are and I happen to like who you are. So wish we could meet, but that's alright, I think we are already friends. If you don't mind my posts about grandkids and other silly stuff, then I sure don't mind reading about your sewing. So keep it up.

  6. I love that material that you said cost so much. That is just beautiful. I wish I was making my grand daughters clothes. The ones that you make are so much better and anything I see in the stores.
Its nice to get caught up with you. Have a nice week.

  7. All the little things you have made are so sweet. Your granddaughter is blessed to have a grandma who loves to sew for her. I learned to sew in high school--an actual sumer school class (which made me hate it even more) because I had to if I wanted clothes. I made basic A-line sleeveless dresses which were the style then (and now). And a few other things. My older sister excelled in sewing and I was no comparison. I am glad I have the skill but would never sew for the fun of it!! But there are plenty of other things I enjoy doing in my spare time and like you, I am never bored. I enjoyed this post.

  8. Debbie, I always enjoy hearing about and seeing your beautiful sewing. I think we all blog about what is near and dear to our hearts, so just keep it up! And, I've never been bored either and hopefully I never will be but that time may come as I age and perhaps cannot do all that I can now. :o(((

I am always so amazed at your creations, God has gifted you in many ways! Those grandchildren will always remember the love that went into their clothes you made!
